[NEWS]New details released about a Friday afternoon arrest in Rancho Cordova.Deputies responded to reports of a man possibly carrying a rifle on a Regional Transit bus near Routier Road and Ellenwood Drive.A loaded, unregistered rifle was found inside the suspect’s backpack.The suspect, 21-year-old Kanye Smithburns, was booked on weapons charges and later released on pre-trial probation.He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.One person is dead and another hospitalized after a shooting Monday afternoon in Sacramento.Police responded around 1 p.m. to the 3200 block of Marysville Boulevard and found two men with gunshot wounds.One victim later died at the hospital; the second has serious but non-life-threatening injuries.Large portions of Hangingwood Park remain closed during the investigation.Police say the relationship between the two men is unknown.A man was shot Monday night in Sacramento County.Deputies responded around 9:45 p.m. near the 3100 block of Bradshaw Road.The victim was transported to a hospital; his condition is unknown.No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.[CITY WATCH]Sacramento County has launched a new Land Use Regulation Library at landuse.saccounty.gov.The new site centralizes zoning codes, design guidelines, and planning documents.It improves accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act and is currently in open beta with more content coming this spring.🔗 https://www.saccounty.gov/us/en/articles/2026-articles/introducing-the-land-use-regulation-library.html#gsc.tab=0[WEATHER]Dense fog before 10 a.m. — allow extra time for your commute.Becoming sunny by afternoon with a high near 65 and light north-northwest winds.Tonight: mostly clear and calm with lows around 42.[EVENTS]A Conversation with Tommy Hunt takes place today from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the California Automobile Museum.
