This Week on TikTok: Chanty Beluga, 2010s Nostalgia, and Remembering Antipasto Salad

Dena and Catalina kick off this week’s episode discussing the meteoric rise of @chantybeluga– from the viral skit that put her on everyone’s algorithms, to parodies and reactions from creators like @notuhjohnny, @saggiesplinters, and(@brandonruinseverything). In the FYP segment, Dena recaps the wild world of bedazzling Doritos (@iwilldaydreamforever) sparking a discussion about “This app drops me off anywhere,” and giving Catalina the opportunity for a little vocab lesson on in medias res. Next, Catalina recaps some of the Ziwe clips and 2010s indie nostalgia (Matt and Kim, Death Cab for Cutie) gracing her feed, as well as some children debating Hobbes vs. Rousseau (@themaleyway). After reacting to a video on urban foraging in NYC (@robin.greenfield), they close with the Drama on TikTok segment, testing their memories with @avalaborde’s list of peak incidents like Womblands, Pink Sauce, and of course the Antipasto Salad.
