Thom Vander Beken is een Belgische documentairemaker en VR-regisseur. Hij studeerde Nederlandse en Engelse literatuur aan de Universiteit Gent en specialiseerde zich in postkoloniale Afrikaanstalige literatuur aan de Universiteit van Stellenbosch in Zuid-Afrika. Later behaalde hij een master in regie aan de Luca School of Arts in Brussel. Zijn werk omvat verschillende middellange documentaires die internationaal positief werden onthaald.
