Από μικρή μεγάλωσε με τη συνθήκη των επιληπτικών κρίσεων κάτι που ήθελε να κρύψει και να μην παραδεχτεί ούτε στον ίδιο της τον εαυτό, δεδομένου ότι αυτό, θα την περιόριζε και θα τις στερούσε χαρές από τη ζωή της. Έκανε πολλές «αταξίες» για τα δικά της δεδομένα για να αποτάξει από πάνω της το στίγμα των επιληπτικών κρίσεων αλλά και από ανάγκη να μην βάλει η ίδια αλλά και κανείς άλλος τη ζωή της σε κουτάκια, στα κουτάκια ενός επιληπτικού ανθρώπου. Επιστρέφοντας στην Ελλάδα ύστερα από την περιοδεία με τον Νίκο Βέρτη στην Αυστραλία, νοσηλεύτηκε με απώλεια συνείδησης για τέσσερις συνεχόμενες ημέρες στο νοσοκομείο. Η Θωμαή περιγράφει τα πιο ισχυρά περιστατικά επιληπτικών κρίσεων που έχει βιώσει και τα συνδυάζει με τις πολύ απαιτητικές περιόδους της ζωής της. Η αποχή από το χώρο του θεάματος την βοήθησε να ορίσει καλύτερα τη ζωή της αλλά και να θέσει τον εαυτό της στο επίκεντρο.
