Thomas

from Peace Apostolic Ministries · host Philip Alley

Following on from Easter, Philip Alley speaks of the traditional season of Eastertide, the 50 days between Resurrection Sunday and Pentecost. Today, the first Sunday after Easter, is traditionally called Low (or Laus) Sunday, or St Thomas Sunday. It was one week after Thomas’ well known expression of doubt in the resurrection of Christ that he actually managed to see and touch the wounds on Jesus’ body. Somehow, Thomas is most widely known for his doubt, and yet in other mentions of him in the Bible, he is revealed as being extremely loyal, truthful and inquisitive. Philip goes on to discuss the true nature and causes of doubt. Doubt is not the opposite of faith, states Philip. In fact, honest doubts, once resolved, become the bedrock of an unshakeable faith – or, as someone has said, “Doubts are the ants in the pants of faith. They keep it awake and moving” Philip concludes his message with a list of 5 ways to move on from a place of doubt, encouraging the believers to fix their hope to the sild person of our Rock.
