As 2022 draws to a close, Cabinet is set to make some staffing changes in the incoming new year. Three ministers and three MPs from the Labour Party have announced their retirement, allowing room for some new faces to make their way into Parliament in 2023. Ministers Poto Williams, Aupito William Sio and David Clark and MPs Jamie Strange, Marja Lubeck and Paul Eagle have all announced their retirement, and there's room for more to go ahead of the expected reshuffle in the new year. NZ Herald deputy political editor Thomas Coughlan says that 2023 is set to be a big year politically, with the election and the predicted recession set to be front of mind for everyone.
