Some folks said there are six scriptures in the Bible that caused controversial understanding regarding LGBTQ issues. We will run through all those ambiguous scriptures via historical lens, text criticism, and form criticism. Speaker: Ryn Thelen (she/her/ella) is a first year transfer student at McCormick Theological Seminary. She moved to Hyde Park after spending time in Washington, Wisconsin, and Michigan. A traveler at heart, Ryn enjoys hiking, exploring, kayaking, and meeting new people. Her goals after seminary are to help the Church at large develop in its justice initiatives and to make the Church a welcoming and safe space for all. Ryn describes her Christianity as a "queer faith," reflecting her own queerness and her desire to engage with Christian mysticism.
