Thoughts & Prayers with Russ Rankin of Good Riddance

from Drinks With Johnny · host Johnny Christ & Sound Talent Media

This week we’re joined by punk rock frontman Russ Rankin of the legendary Santa Cruz band, Good Riddance! While Russ may be known for his passion on stage behind the microphone, we take a deep dive into his work away from music in the Western Hockey League. Russ explains to us how he helps younger generations prepare for careers as pro hockey players, and reveals how many times their parents are shocked to find out about his punk rock roots. After the hockey talk, we get into some Good Riddance. Russ explains how his approach to vocals has evolved since the inception of the band, and how Descendents’ drummer Bill Stevenson played a big role in that change. We also get into Russ’ other musical ventures including his recent solo tour through Europe, and his work with the melodic punk rock supergroup Only Crime. We also learn on this episode: What Russ considers his dream job If we will hear new music from Only Crime How Russ got into hockey Plus some reflections back on the early days of Good Riddance Become a FILTHY ANIMAL and get access to exclusive content:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2qKyxOwoa_Uz5d5xCZEUPw/joinExplore more Drinks With Johnny:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/drinkswithjohnnyInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/drinkswithjohnnyFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/drinkswithjohnnyTwitter: https://twitter.com/drinkswjohnnyShop: https://www.drinkswithjohnny.com
