Gruppen byggde vidare på triumferna och tragedierna. Det var i Memphis som Stax Records blomstrade och förändrade soulmusiken, men det var också här som bolaget kollapsade och i slutändan såldes av banken till en kyrka för en dollar. I staden lever minnet av blues, Elvis Presley (Graceland), Sun-studion, och en av Amerikas hårdaste hiphopscener. Det var här som Martin Luther King mördades för 50 år sedan.
