Three home births, painless birth, the mind-body connection, and chiropractic care in pregnancy

from Arrivals: A Birth Story Podcast · host Merelise Wilson

This week, Merelise is joined by chiropractor and mama, Dr. Rachel Stockwell, who shares the incredible stories of her three, beautiful water births at home.Rachel is a second generation chiropractor who grew up ingrained in the birth community and knew from a young age that she would always want to give birth to her own children at home. During her third home birth, Rachel experienced a rare occurrence - an intense mental and emotional block that led to her being fully dilated, but without any pain, urge to push, or really any other signs of labor. Thankfully, her midwife was able to have a conversation with her that led to them uncovering what was holding Rachel back. Once they addressed that, Rachel had her third baby quickly and peacefully, surrounded by family. Throughout this episode, Merelise and Rachel really dig into the culture of home birth and the misconceptions around it, the mind-body connection that is so essential to a successful birth (wherever you’re birthing!), raising boys to appreciate the miracle of birth, the benefits of chiropractic care in pregnancy and beyond (did you know it can help with nursing?), and what women can do to optimize their birth experience. Resource Links: Dr. Rachel's Chiropractic PracticeFollow Dr. Rachel on InstagramRevelle Physical Therapy (Dr. Amy Meehan)The Business of Being BornIna May Gaskin's Guide to ChildbirthWant to be a guest on Arrivals?
