Three Man Army - Midnight (1971)

THREE MAN ARMY Los Hermanos Gurvitz, respectivamente Adrian y paul, procedían de la banda The Gun, Tras la disolución de la banda, Adrian toca junto a Buddy Miles y Paul con Gurvitz Parrish Band, pero ninguna de estas dos formaciones disfruta de un gran futuro, por lo que a continuación los dos hermanos se unen para crear a Three Man Army. Este proyecto, como la mayoría de todas estas bandas precursoras sin éxito, han demostrado estar muy por delante de su tiempo, lo que no facilitaba la tarea de poder penetrar en el mercado discografico, ni la comprensión de la mayoría del publico. Su álbum de debut, A Third of a Lifetime, contó con la presencia de diversos baterías, entre ellos Buddy Miles, Carmine Appice y Mike Kellie de Spooky Thooth y Tony Newman, que había trabajado anteriormente junto Rod Stewart. Tras dos discos con los hermanos Gurvitz, Newman se fue, obteniendo una carrera musical de enorme gloria, acompañando a David Bowie, Jeff Beck y Chris Spedding, además de integrar otra banda de culto como fueron May Blitz. La Three Man Army exhibía una forma espectacular de desarrollar su sonido, un hard rock de alto nivel. Adrian Gurvitz ha sido uno de esos verdadero guitars hero, siempre en la sombra, este hombre ha firmado una cantidad de solos increíbles que jamás pasaran a la historia. En su manera de tocar le suele impregnar un sonido áspero, autentico y bluesero al grupo. Three Men Army siempre fue comparado con sus coetáneos, Cream y Grand Funk , pero con muchísima menos suerte, a pesar de recibir criticas positivas por sus discos y ser a menudo elogiados por su profesionalidad en sus conciertos. "Mahesha" fue su ultima obra, un gran disco completamente ignorado tanto por la prensa especializada como por el publico, lo que les llevo al final de la aventura. Los hermanos Gurvitz abandonaron este proyecto, y se embarcaron en otra empresa junto a Ginger Baker, la Baker Gurvitz Army, por lo que se ve, los Gurvitz tenían alguna obsesión con la armada.
