from Limerick Post Podcast · host Limerick Post Podcast

Three Things That Matter with Ann Blake | Guest: Annette Flynn In episode 5 of the second series, Ann speaks to actress Annette Flynn who is performing in Bottom Dog Theatre's upcoming production, Gravity (A Love Story). Annette's three things bring the listener on a journey from the beaches of Sligo to the challenges of answering tourist questions and the Irish Mammy's love of letting you know what neighbour died - whether you knew them or not. Annette, from Ballina in Co. Mayo, is probably best known to Irish audiences for her role as fun-loving teacher Maeve in Fair City and more recently as the mother in the Littlewoods Christmas ad. She notched a few more soaps on her belt, notably Eastenders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, following a move across the pond to London.  In 2020 Annette was named as one of 'Mayo's 18 most inspirational and trailblazing women at home and abroad' by RSVP alongside the likes of Sally Rooney, Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain and fellow Ballina women Dr. Norah Patten (Ireland’s first astronaut) and Mary Robinson. Three Things That Matter is hosted by local playwright, performer and musician, Ann Blake. In each episode a different guest will be interviewed and asked to ‘bring’ three things that matter to them. These may vary from books and plants to places and occasions. The three things provide a jumping off point for discussion of the extraordinary in the every day.
