Through the Church Fathers: April 11

In today’s selections, we focus on Christ as the fulfillment of the Law and the unique hope of salvation. We begin with Justin Martyr, Dialogue with Trypho, Chapters 43–44, where Justin argues that the Law reached its end in Christ and urges his Jewish listeners to turn to Him for salvation. Then we hear from Augustine, Confessions, Book VII, Chapter 21, as Augustine compares the Scriptures to the writings of Plato, finding in the gospel what philosophy could never give—grace, forgiveness, and the suffering Savior.
