Throwback; Episode 696: The Fight After The Fight with Ann Carrizales PT. 1

Today we wanted to share an episode from a little while back. We believe that it provides immense value and there are some new listeners, so we wanted to re-post it. On today's episode, Dennis talks with USMC Veteran and Texas Law Enforcement Officer, Ann Carrizales. Officer Ann Carrizales began her career in the Military with the United States Marine Corps. In 1997 Ann made history as she became the first female to represent the USMC in amateur boxing.  In 1999 she became the U.S. Women’s National Champion in her weight division and was ranked #1 in the country. As a Sergeant, Ann attended Leadership Training at the Marine Corps Institute, served as a Criminal Investigator and a Field Training Officer, receiving multiple meritorious awards for superior achievement and performance. In 2010 Ann joined the Stafford Police Department working special assignments such as FTO, Rape Aggression Defense Instructor, Police Trainer and worked as a Crisis Negotiator on the East Fort Bend County Regional SWAT Team. On October 26, 2013, during a vehicle stop, Officer Carrizales found herself in a gunfight for her life.  Shot in the face and chest, Ann was not going to quit.  She shares her story with us as a role model and inspiration to Law Enforcement Officers throughout the country. Ann has received the LE Purple Heart, the Congressional Badge of Bravery, the IAWP Medal of Valor and many more awards for her heroic acts.  Ann goes in depth on her story of being in 2 officer involved shootings, the importance of preparedness, as well as aftermath of being in an officer involved shooting.
