The Grace of God in Your Life

Grace is one of the most beautiful and most misunderstood words in the Christian vocabulary. Grace is God's unmerited favor. It is His kindness toward you when you deserve the opposite. It is His power working in you when you have no strength of your own. Ephesians 2 verses 8 and 9 say, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Salvation is by grace. But grace does not stop at salvation. Grace is the power for every aspect of the Christian life.My dear friend, you need to understand grace not just as a theological concept but as a daily reality. Grace is not a license to sin. It is the power not to sin. Grace is not God's permission to live carelessly. It is God's empowerment to live righteously. Grace is not just for the beginning of your Christian life. It is for every moment of every day. God's grace is sufficient for everything you face. His strength is made perfect in your weakness.Think about the apostle Paul. He had a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet him. He pleaded with God three times to remove it. But God said in 2 Corinthians 12 verse 9, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Paul learned to boast in his weaknesses because they allowed the grace of God to be magnified in his life. He discovered that when he was weak, then he was strong because Christ's power rested upon him.Think about the prodigal son. He wasted everything. He hit rock bottom. He deserved nothing but judgment. But when he returned to his father, he did not receive judgment. He received grace. The father ran to him, embraced him, put a robe on him, a ring on his finger, and sandals on his feet. He killed the fatted calf and celebrated. That is grace. It is getting what you do not deserve.Think about the thief on the cross. He had lived a life of crime. He was dying for his sins. He had nothing to offer. He could not do any good works. But in his final moments, he cried out to Jesus, and Jesus said, "Today you will be with Me in Paradise." That is grace. Pure, unearned, undeserved favor.So how do you receive and live in God's grace daily? First, stop trying to earn what is freely given. You cannot earn grace. That is the whole point. Grace is a gift. Receive it by faith. Stop striving. Stop trying to be good enough. Accept that you are accepted in Christ.Second, humble yourself. Grace is given to the humble. James 4 verse 6 says, "God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble." The proud person says, "I can do this on my own." The humble person says, "I need God's grace." Humble yourself and ask for grace.Third, receive grace for your weakness. You do not have to be strong. You do not have to have it all together. When you are weak, God's grace is most available to you. Bring your weaknesses to God and let His grace be sufficient for you.Fourth, extend grace to others. Because you have received grace, you can give grace. Forgive others as you have been forgiven. Be kind to those who do not deserve it. Let the grace you have received flow through you to others.Fifth, grow in grace. Second Peter 3 verse 18 says, "Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." Grace is not static. It is something you grow in. The more you experience God's grace, the more you want to experience it.What this produces in your life is freedom, power, and joy. Grace frees you from trying to earn God's approval. Grace empowers you to live a life that pleases God. Grace fills you with joy because you know that you are loved unconditionally. Grace is not just a doctrine. It is the power for daily living. Receive it. Live in it. Let it transform you.Let us pray. Father, thank You for Your amazing grace. I do not deserve it, but You give it freely. I receive Your grace today. I stop trying to earn what You have already given me. I humble myself and ask for grace for every weakness, every struggle, and every need. Help me to extend grace to others as You have extended grace to me. Let me grow in grace every day.
