TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Upon the realisation of the gross infidelity to God following their return the exile in Babylon, the Israelites broke down in tears bemoaning their Iniquities. Ezra, the priest, however, told them as God tells us today; do not mourn or weep for this day is holy to the Lord your God. On the contrary, like the Israelites, we're to go rejoicing since, having realised the gravity of our Iniquities, God calls us to repentance, grants us forgiveness and invites us to a new relationship with Him built on true repentance and righteousness. It's a call to a new beginning in and with God in order to experience the society of our dream as ordained by God.
