A rescue operation took place after 10 a.m. on Wednesday when a male was reportedly in the river and stuck in the mud. The call came from Mitchell South Road. After some ingenuity and little work, the man was rescued. Trooper 346 conducted a felony stop on a suspected 10-75 or stolen vehicle. It was actually a trailer. That was around mile marker 58 on I-80 eastbound with an Oklahoma vehicle. After a short investigation, it was determined that the trailer was not 10-75 and was likely double rented by the company. Yesterday evening, there was a report of a person walking on Highway 71. In fact, several reports came in until finally a trooper caught up with the individual on the west side of the highway by the Nature Center with the individual given a direct order to stay off the highway. And just after 11 p.m. there was a call for a car versus train accident. County Road 34, one patient trapped in the vehicle, airlink on standby, blood ready to go. It was reported that the train was still moving and Morrill County deputies were trying to stop the train headed towards Bayard. Patient was reportedly alert and talking. Scanner traffic indicates that she may have run into the train with the train being unaware that it was hit. That's why it continued on. Damage was found on the rear south side of a rail car.
