Thy Kingdom Come (Part II)

Today, Bishop Rodgers continues the series "Thy Kingdom Come" from Matthew 6:10. The word "kingdom" expresses a "sphere of influence." In the Old Testament, God's kingdom was the sphere of influence He had over His people. In the New Testament, the kingdom of God continues through the permanent establishment of the final king over His kingdom, Jesus Christ. Christians live in the kingdoms of the world, but we have citizenship and ownership in a kingdom not of this world. To be in the kingdom of Christ today, means to be under His (Christ) influence and direction. The "Kingdom of God" is a dynamic (not static) concept referring to God's sovereign activity of ruling over His creation. God is the universal King and He mediates it through His Son, who rules, and is given the right to judge and reign.
