from Des Moines and Dragons · host Paul Privitera

CW // body horror, surgery Last time on Tidefall… Flip, Hera, and Salt’s uncharacteristic success is cut short by Joe and Uriah as they tell the group about the brass guild bomb plot against Tidefall, the largest civilian vessel in the sea of clouds. On top of that, Nell is severely injured. Flip and Hera try some Wild Sky first aid to help heal Nell. Flip fails and almost freaks out, then Hera succeeds. It's tidefall. We made it. There it is. There it is.

There it is. Episode 10. We're here. It's been about a year since we last recorded.

Quickly. It's been a while. Still in quarantine. What is time?

I remember distinctly when I thought it was going to be a couple of months. Right. And it's like I remember I was listening to old tidefall episodes and I'm like, wow, we were so young and so naive. I remember distinctly getting the text from Ted before we recorded episodes eight and nine when he's like, hey, guys, we need to quarantine because this is getting bad.

And we hadn't figured out it's in cast for the time. And I was like, oh, no, what's this going to do to tidefall? We're so close to the end. And I like, has like many freak out.

And at the time, I was like, why is he freaking out so much? Because it was like early femur. It's like, it's not that bad. And then, you know, a month later, it's like, oh, this is we're gonna have to quarantine.

Everyone's gonna have quarantine for like a month. Right. And now it's a year later. Yeah.

So how little we knew. Yeah. Oh my God. But we're back.

We're back. It's looking brighter. No, a number of, I've got my first dose for my vaccine. It's spring.

This comes out in summer though. But yes. Right. Yes.

I'm just coming down for my second dose. It is. It's tense. Oh, yeah.

I know. I got mine back on the 27th of March and I thought it'd get me but I napped a couple of time on all later and that kind of bounced back. Yeah, I was sick for about a day. Well, the problem is I was bragging that I was fine after, you know, it was about a day later.

And my husband, he felt like he got hit by a truck and I'm like, I'm great. I'm fine. And then about 3 p.m. A day afterwards.

I'm like, oh, this is bad. I think I'm gonna go home and yeah, for about 15 hours, I was down for a little bit. But then yeah, the next day I was okay. But yeah, definitely it's a little punch to the immune system.

Right. Yeah. Please any listeners, if you don't have it, please go get a vaccine. Yes.

We don't get political here, but please, please go get a vaccine 100%. This is a political, this is a health statement. I agree. But I'll give them a political.

So I just wanted to put that statement out there as a generic. Hey, please, please just get it. I like it hard again. Yeah.

It would be nice. I had COVID. I had COVID. It is not fun when you're laying there in bed going, is this it?

Oh, no. Yeah. Like arguably, like I got really, really lucky. You know, I lost a taste and smell.

I never had a fever, but there are just some days, like I couldn't get out of bed for really anything ago. And is it that it's not anywhere near as bad as a lot of folks that were unfortunate to get the severe kind, but it's just like, it's still not a game, folks. Yeah, it just sounds like fun. Even for younger people, it's rough.

You know, it's not likely to be as life earning for us and broader, but like it's still not fun. It's still very scary. Right. And I got like it because I'm in the like high risk category being a type one diabetic.

So, oh, yeah, I forgot about that extra stress on top of it, but Cheeps. And I say, well, I was out of work for 32 days for mine because it was a mix of my father got it working in a hospital. So they put me basically on three quarantines in a row. And I didn't need it till the near the end of the second round of quarantines.

Okay. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm just like, why did they put me?

I'm fine. You know, week later. I'm not fine. You brag about it.

You start feeling good. Right. Don't touch it. It's the is the last time in the last year.

It's like things are good. It's like, just don't don't overestimate anything. I don't over underestimate anything. Right.

We can't be any clearer than that. That's the theme. I just want since we've last reported tidefall, I've moved Iowa and been unable to do anything. Yeah, man, I should check in on Jeff and see how he's adjusting to Iowa.

And it's like, oh, yeah. I've hung up with friends one time. And it's only because everyone there has either been vaccine quarantined or half vaccine and like also quarantined. It was great to actually hang out, but even then we had to be very careful and it was the people that we all trusted and everyone knew that everyone was being safe.

But it was nice to start to get back normal, but it's not quite normal. And you know, who knows what they're normal is going to be. But we're on the brighter end of things compared to when we recorded episode nine and we're like, yeah, I'll be like a month. Gosh, maybe when it's cut out.

Maybe we said exactly that when we went up seven nine. Yeah. So I'm not going to say something like that. No, we're not going to go up seven nine.

I was like, no, well, by the time this is out, we'll be back and about. So yeah, I'm not going to have done anything. My hope is June in person. Right.

Remember when we were joking around that Paul Cockcovet at one point? We did. Yeah. We were going to go to Monaco.

And it totally honestly could have been right. It was, I mean, at this point, I'm convinced that I might have gotten it in February, just because I was really sick out of nowhere after I've been a huge crowd of people. But we just, I mean, you have no idea at this point because we weren't tracking and we had no idea. Right.

So you know what? We're on the way up. Yep. Yep.

Get your vaccine. Be safe. Circle back normal. Right.

Being a back normal. Let's talk tight fall. So it has been a year or so since we have played. Yeah.

It says like a general note. We're very excited to play, but we may have forgotten little things here and there. We're just going to roll with the flow. Whatever happens happens.

Details may change without warning. Yeah. Right. What happens happens?

The way I GM is always just like, I jam off the scene of my pants. My GM secret is don't think too hard and just kind of roll the flow. So that's how I'm going to treat the upside side fall and moving forward. We're going to quickly sort of like, we'll probably have a person sort of talk to what happened, but is like a fresh reminder.

We'll sort of briefly talk as to what happened in episode nine. And we can, you know, we'll talk openly about it. But episode nine is where we figured out that the brass guild are planning to blow up tight fall and bad things are happening. Yeah.

Yeah. What is tight fall? I thought it was the show. It is, but it's also the name of the biggest city in the world.

In the world. Yeah. So yeah, tight fall is the name of the city. It's, you know, the namesake of the show just wasn't revealed until episode eight or nine, one of those episodes.

And it's, you know, the grass guild's trying to blow it up and our adventurers promptly split up to deal with that. Because flip learn some things near the end of this, you know, episode eight, episode nine. I have a lot of daddy's multitude. Committee.

I need to go talk to my daddy's. Yeah. The children of Yantas created in some way, Mr. Flip.

And now he's going to go, here what's going on? So he went, he joined up with Maximus, the old revenant, who is a salt's old explorer board friend that now works with the children of Yantas. And Nell, who's the little mongrel guy that like is like cat-like and was, you know, hoping out our crew when they were investigating Leah. Leah is the brass guild kind of like, she's not an assassin.

She's a high ranking officer. She's a high ranking officer. She's kind of like the maker, the person that gets she've done essentially. Oh, no.

So yeah, she, yeah, down assassin, but like she kind of like she does things that's important. And she, you know, she's an officer, but she's also like the boots on the ground. She's a big jerk. She's a big jerk.

She's a big jerk. Is what it is with a huge lump on her head from another episode. Yep. When salt hit her with the pistol.

Donky punched her with my elbow. Yeah. Yeah. Robot arm elbow, by the way.

Yeah. Well, you had to save Hera because she tried to, I've completely forgot this until about half an hour ago when Monica reminded me of that when she tried to seduce her and failed horribly and then introduced her body. Yeah, I mean, we have got to hit injury, but I mean, I think Hera's maybe a little bit deeper. So yeah, currently the crew, Hera, salt, Joe and DeRaya, the two members of salt skating, okay, and flop.

They are currently on their ship and they are at a far distance away tracking Leah. She's journey to go do something there following her and flip went to join the Maximus and Nell and he wants to go talk to Father Richard, who's the like leader of the children of Yentos. He's been heading back with them. So the party has split, but you know, flip his own and flip to leave his dog flop in case you forgot who flop was, which would be crazy.

Right. The real hero of the show. Yeah, he left flop with, you know, salt in the crew. And yeah, party split.

Anything else you guys want to bring up before we jump into the episode proper? No, I can think of sogang. Yes, your favorite group of guys. So happy for a little bit the chosen one Joe Joe the chosen one.

Yes, the chosen one. Good. Yeah, didn't we like try so hard to rescue Joe and then basically saw died for it? Yes.

Yes. Yes. Yep. Yeah, Joe Joe was saved and salt died.

And then he came back with like a missing arm. Right. And yeah, that wasn't for nothing. Right.

Hey, because without that robot arm, couldn't have saved hair from Leah just saying. Yeah. I will say that episode where it salt, you know, died that was that was a dark episode. Things went bad.

It I mean, I remember coming up from Paul's basement and everyone's just like, man, that was rough. That was an epic. Yeah, we all just came up. I think Paul got home from something and he's like, and he's like, you guys see it on our faces.

Like it was rough. I know sitting there thinking, I'm like, am I done recording with these guys? That sucks. Yeah, that and I never went, you know, that is always a threat.

It's you know, but it's never been depends on, you know, what we want to do. We chose to, you know, bring him back. But yeah, at the end of the episode, it was like, man, that was that was something. So, either way, we're gonna go and get some proper will be right back.

But stay tuned for more title. Do you do. This shop weight radio broadcast is brought to you by the Department of Public Relations grants at the central government of tide fall. Remember folks, help defeat the prime enemies of the state by buying copper and not brass, because if it's brass, it lacks glass.

Now folks, there have been rumors that many citizens have seen and heard brass gill agents planting bombs beneath our fair capital. I can show you that these allegations are false. This central government of tide fall has never been stronger. The likes of the brass gill would never dare to breach the security of the center palace.

Not the back tide group like them, they really couldn't. Now your government cares for you people, remember that. We keep you safe from the bloodthirsty roots of the brass gill, and the undead revenants and animal men of the children of the Antis. The rest easy good citizens put these bomb threats out of your mind.

Will you see the government who's launching over you? Till next time, Prince. So we are, you know, the camera zooms in and it's a, I think briefly it shows the shot of the ship that Hera and Salt and Salt are on. They currently I believe is unnamed.

And we see them, you know, flying through the air, but then the camera pans and it goes off into the distance and it eventually finds its way too much smaller ship. And we zoom in, we zoom in, and eventually find our way to flip. So flip, you are alone on the ship. It's been probably a couple of hours since we last saw you, a couple hours in the game, like a year or so in your life.

But in the game, it's been a couple of hours and you are journeying your way to the wreck of the blue bottle. Is that the name of that ship? I'm so glad with names. It was for sure not the blue bottle, but it was the blue something blue, blue, blue, blue, blue tide.

Yeah, I'm thinking of a sci-fi game that has a ship called the blue bottle unrelated to all of this. So yeah, the blue tide. And it's been a few hours. What is this initial journey been like?

You spend a couple of hours, are you just like quietly thinking? Are you like tinkering on something? You've got a little bit of time and I wasn't sure if you were by yourself if you were hanging out with Maximus and them or if you're just not hanging out with Maximus and them. Okay.

I think I think flip is definitely like trying to keep his mind and his fingers busy. So he's tinkering on something. I've quite decided what that is yet. But his mind is in a different place.

Okay. So, I mean, yeah, if you wanted to actually build something you can or if you're just like fidgeting, that's fine. Just to like, again, keep your hands busy. Kind of up to you.

I think I might be building something for flop, maybe some sort of like upgrade or something to make his life a little bit more comfortable. I quite decided, but it's definitely flop centric. Okay. Oh, yeah.

Let's roll a minute. It's been a year. I think tinkering is the skill name. Mechanics?

Mechanics. That's it. Yep. Mechanics.

Tinkering. I think is the talent that you've picked up or something like that. Yeah. Roll mechanics check.

Sure. So this is my inventor feet. Yeah. What is he?

I believe it gives me some bonus successes. I've got a double check. And she had to make such a construct new items or modify existing ones. Use this talent to add a number of blue to the check in which the ranks have invented.

So you're going to get two blues on top of that. Okay. I'll set that up on my end. Cool.

Okay. And I, yeah, I'm just going to be equally too. So two purple ice because it's not anything too complex. I don't think you're just trying to make something makes it life more comfortable.

Yeah. Or making better in combat. I'm not sure yet. Yeah.

All right. Yeah. Since it's not like very intense. I'm going to, you know, if it was a more complex thing, I'd make it three.

But it sounds like it's, you know, it's more like your side project right now because you're trying to keep busy. Yeah. It's not, it's not the big, like, I need to make this like mega thing for him. It's more just something smaller, whether it's comfort or combat or something along those lines.

Yeah. Yeah. I'm just thinking about him. So we're good to go.

Yep. You get to roll whenever. Wow. For successes.

Yeah. For successes. Even on the failure. Even on the failure.

You didn't roll any failures. You just rolled like the disadvantaged, the adult out. Yeah. For successes.

Yeah. You are very successful. Whatever you rolled. Take a note on your character sheet.

We can sort of introduce it later whenever makes sense that you have something that you can do like that. You can like attach to him or like, obviously he's not there. He's not with you. You know, you're by yourself.

So you've got something, you know, you make it, you put it away. You can introduce it later or if you're not, you can't. Otherwise at some point, you can, you know, whatever makes sense we can talk to later. Google.

Yeah. You have something built for flip or for flop. I and we're back. We're back.

It's been a year and I'm back to confusing you and your dog's name because they're both flip. Yeah. I'm bad with names. I worked my way out of it and then this happened.

And you're not like, you've got to magically switch places in real life. Yeah. Yeah. So the dog is in this like unknown place and flip is, you know, somewhere.

Okay. Really is malleable. Yeah. It's a game.

So you, you finished building this thing and eventually like maybe like right as you finished putting on like the final touch and you like, wiping off like, you know, a crease thing or something. You hear like, there's a noise and like, it's the noise of, you know, the ship like coming to rest. It like stops the engines, you know, park off and there's, you know, on the outside, you hear like clanging so people essentially tying the ship to the other ship because again, you know, it's not to ground. Obviously it's to other ships.

So everything is sort of floating and, you know, tied together with, you know, various ropes and balloons and whatnot. But you've arrived. No one comes to get you initially. You're just left alone.

What do you do? Do you wait a minute? Do you give it a while or do you immediately go to go try to find father Richard? Oh, I immediately go.

I want to see what, I want to see the ship that we're tied to. Okay. Okay. So you head out and the first thing you see, it is the blue tide wreckage, which is I believe you guys were here before a while ago when, is that when one of us has been here before?

Yeah. Who was it that was here? I cannot remember. It was me because they're the ones that pulled me out of the water.

That's right. Yeah. Yeah. I'm telling several hundred thousands.

Yep. Yep. Yeah. So yeah, you've been here, but flip has not.

Well, I mean, maybe, but I can't remember. Well, you can't remember. Yeah. Exactly.

Or do I recognize this place, Jeff? Let's let's check. Roland check is always fun. So Roland me a perception would make the most sense.

Unless because you have a knowledge skill. Knowledge, resonance, all I got. No, I wouldn't do that. Okay.

Yeah. Roland me a perception check. This is going to be difficult because, well, things are difficult, but I'm set up on your mind. You want to be on a roll?

Go go perception. Boom. Cool. Yeah.

You do not remember. And actually, what I'll say is you don't remember anything, but there's like a flash of something and it's stressing out a little bit like, and like, you feel like there's something there. You feel like you're forgetting something or, but like, you don't remember any of it, but there's that just enough there that it's annoying. It's like, I'm, I forgot, like, it's just enough that you remember that you've forgotten something.

And at that moment, it's, that he remembers something or like that he doesn't remember something or that it's just, it reminds him of something. It, it's, he knows that he's forgotten something. Like he, it's just close. And it's like, if he had one more piece, he may start remembering things, but he's missing it.

And he's still, it's, it's, it's, the frustration that happens when it's like, I know, I know that I know that, you know, like, when you're trying to think of like a song name and like, I know, I know that song, I know that song, but I can't think of the name. I'm so close. I'm just, it's a little bit and it's frustrating you, but it's about his life, not just a song name. And it's right.

Obviously, that's very frustrating. So yeah, you take a point of stress, but you, you're not quite sure. You don't know what, what it is that you remember, but there's like, there's a hint of something. Gotcha.

And yeah, you see this, this ship that is semi functional, like it's kind of, kind of broken, but not fully broken. It's considered to be used. It probably couldn't fly, but they've turned it into a more, a less mobile, you know, like one of the city ships that just sort of sit. It's like one of those where it's just kind of static here.

It's probably lower and closer to the water than other ships are just because it doesn't have the greatest capabilities to like fly and move around. So it's just much more static. Okay. And yeah, it's just blue ship.

Probably the right side is much more damage. Like there's obvious damage to the outside that they've repaired some of it, but it's just we take a lot of time and money to fully repair it and they've just decided to turn into this command center. Okay. Now that I've sort of kind of gotten that nice point of strain, I think flip is gonna, I think flip is gonna look for, look for Maximus and Nell and try to get, get set up here.

Okay. And what's your general thoughts on Maximus and Nell? Do you, and are you friends with them? Do you trust them?

Is there one of them that you, is there one of them that you like, trust more or less than the other between Maximus and Nell? I think it's not like on a super conscious level, but flip is definitely drawn more towards Nell, which is interesting. Nell and flip have had more interactions and more opportunities to bond, and Maximus has kind of been on the, since he was at odds with salt, that's kind of put a little damper on. Yeah, it's hard to be friends with, you know, one of your best friends like enemies, and they're not enemies, but like they're, there's conflict there.

So it's, it's hard. There's definitely, there's obviously something going on there. So that's sort of put a dampener on that for flip. Okay.

Let me just do a roll to see which one of them you see. So Nell's nowhere to be seen, but Maximus is on the deck, probably like, times maybe up. Yeah. You don't see her in Els app, but Maximus is somewhere, and he's on the deck, probably tying, you know, likes securing lines between the smaller transport vessel that they took to bring you and themselves here to the, the blue tide.

Cool. I think flip approaches him, maybe tries to help him with whatever he's trying to do, and just sort of like without making eye contact or connecting with him in any way, says, so what's next? Well, I need to go talk to, you know, the father and he's probably going to send me a Nell out in a couple of days on our next journey, but he like, he settled that just like working on it and then he turns and looks at you. Well, I don't know about you.

You have to talk to the father. He'll have answers for you. So do I like going with you guys or? Yeah, that's, yeah, come on.

And he like, you know, finish is tightening up the rope and heads to walk inside. Okay. And when you go inside, it there's more people than you would expect. It's not like busy and bustling.

It's not like a city, but there's people wondering about and let me see if there's any like, how many people, like if you see any other Revidence or Mongrels. Oh, sure. So I'm going to say on the low end, there's a lot of them on the higher end. There's very minimal.

Wow. Yeah, you, yeah, there's, there isn't any any Revidence you see. And the only Mongrel that you see at some point, you see now going into a room and he like waves and then he heads and like, he weighs it like down the end of the hallway. He weighs it and then he, you know, close into his room and then Maximus just continues past.

Otherwise, yeah, it's a bunch of people don't recognize, but there are, you know, it's people. A number of them is left to be like researchers, not really the explorers. Like Max, like if you look at Maximus, you can tell that like, he's a big guy. He's a built guy.

He's got weapons on him. He's someone that goes out in the world, right? If you didn't know any better, you know, a regular civilian might call him, might think that he's a pirate or a gangster or something on those lines, right? He's big.

He's built. He's armed. Right. Most people in the ship are not.

They are, you know, they're not, you know, they're not built. They don't have weapons on them. They may have like papers. They very clearly like, they look like researchers and maybe a couple of them like, give you, give you an eye.

They like, look at you. So what a funny and then Maximus like sort of like, it's very slight, but he likes what she said. Like, you know, and then they move on with what they're working on. I think like, there's like a quick zoom in and like, as this sort of thing is going down flips like clenching his fists.

You can see kind of like maybe like a bead of sweat going down his forehead. He's, this kind of being in the situation where he feels so examined and so outside of what's going on comp, like combined with his inability to remember something that feels so important, is really starting to like eat at him. Okay. I mean, yeah, that makes sense.

Yeah, you're, you're in an unknown place, but like people like they kind of recognize you are getting examined and have you dealt with researchers at all that you remember before, whatever happened before? Like, are there any memories of people looking like this in good or bad life? They're, I think there are memories and they're mostly bad. Nothing strictly coherent, mostly flashes of like images and pain, but nothing, nothing to.

I kind of get the vibes of some of the like flashbacks in like early seasons of Stranger Things with 11. Sure. Yeah. Where it's like, you don't really know what's going on, but you're seeing little flashes here and there's like, there's some research on it, but it's kind of not right, but you're not, you don't really remember what the research is.

You just know that like there's something wasn't quite right with it. Okay. So eventually you're, you're taken to a room, a Maximus turns, he was like, wait, wait here, I'll be right back. And he knocks briefly and then he goes inside and closes her behind him.

And after he closes the door, there's like a, a chunk of a door locking behind him. And you're left in this hallway by yourself. What do you, what do you do during this time? Because it's not an hour, but it does take a minute or two, you're just left alone.

I think after, if it takes more than 10 minutes, and it's pretty, it's pretty barren over here. If there isn't a lot of people, I think Flip's just going to try and pick the lock. Okay. I don't think it takes quite that long.

I think maybe it's like, you know what I mean? Like just the moment, like, do I pick this when you're like starting to think about it? You're starting to like look at your bag to find the tools. I think at that point you hear the chunk of the door being unlocked, you know, because these old big ships, they've like, they've got these big heavy duty metal locks picking one of those locks would be difficult because it's much more physical than just a lock lock.

But yeah, you hear the, you hear the, the, the thought of the door being unlocked and the door's opened. Maximus looks at you and he's like, he'll see you now, he'll see you now, he'll like turns like you step inside. Flip takes a big like deep breath and puts his shoulders up. He kind of like cocks one of his legs off to the side.

So he walks a little like hobly like salt does. Okay. And just kind of like pushes his chest out and tries to emulate that as much as possible as it rolls in. Okay.

Cool. Two questions for you. One, I forget, do you hide your like, revetness or is it hidden now? Like mechanical pieces maybe on your back or your chest or like your upper arms?

Are those hidden or those more presented? Any, any bits that are popping out are usually covered with clothing. Just like a bit on the chest and the spine that's usually covered by clothing. But like his, his arm is completely robotic at this point.

I mean, yeah, that's true. Yeah. You don't wear like a clever thing, right? You just are openly presented.

Is that correct? Yeah, I think at this point. Okay, cool. I wasn't sure.

Second question is let's have you roll a charm check? I just, I'm not going to put any people in. I just want to see in general like how successful are you in this? Oh, a charm.

Yeah. A charm. Yeah. I feel like that makes the most sense for like, I want to present as a, it'd be charm or leadership, but I feel like it's more charm.

You're trying to convince them that you are charismatic and you know, wow, that is a, that is a crit. Mr. Charisma. Even if I would throw some people on there, you couldn't have rolled any better than that.

So I guess what does the crit mean? What special thing happens that like, you see some sort of advantage or? I guess I don't want to put anything on them, but I think maybe it's a bit surprising. I think Maximus is kind of seen flip in a certain way.

And this is the first time he's like kind of like impressed in a way that wasn't physical. This was just, hey, look at me. I'm confident I can do this. So maybe he's taking a little bit of back this way.

I can't speak for anybody else in the room, because I don't know who's in there. He's channeling salt finally. Okay. So you do it.

So yeah, you you started in the room very full of confidence and it a kid trying to confident you know what the crit is. There's like a little radio playing. It's like playing a good old radio serial. And just by happenstance as like the big triumphant music is kicking in like the western like, you know, he like strolls in.

It's almost like it's a movie or something. Nice. Okay. Yeah, it's pure chance.

But it yeah. Oh yeah, that's great. So yeah, you walk in and like Maximus like looks at you and he like gives you a nod that is reminiscent of salt. Like is that like not of approval that you've probably gotten from salt once or twice?

Oh my god. Do I like Maximus now? And you've not gotten much results. But everyone's like, yeah, good job.

It's like one of those like he nods at you. Have you got to I kind of validated their shit. That's right. Why am I thinking that you only did a couple of times?

I'm thinking of yeah, I've not even read it. Yeah, what are you talking about? Yeah, he very much gives you a assault nod and he's like a, you know, he doesn't say anything. He just gives that nod and then he closes the door.

As you pass him, he goes out into the hallway and closes the door behind him and you walk into the room. The music is playing and you see a an older gentleman, not old, but an older gentleman sitting at a desk and he stands up and he's like, oh, Mr. Flip, right? That's what you call yourself?

So as the music sort of crescendos, Flip kind of squares up his feet kind of like shoulder with the part kind of like cocks his head down. He's like looking down, he cocks his eyes up, the eyes with him and he says, hello, dad, I'm home. And he gives you a very confused look. And he's like, well, it's it's true that the people here call me, you know, Father Richard, but that doesn't mean that I'm everyone's father.

But welcome up. So yes, you can call me Father or Richard. It's up to you. But you know that I'm not your father, right?

In my travels, dad, I've learned that a lot of people can be your dad. So take that for what you will. And he gives you a very confused look. It's like, okay.

And then he like, you know, like string some papers on his desk. So you have questions. Yes, and at this point, I think Flip just like tears across the room and slams down on the desk. And he says, why didn't you want me anymore?

I don't understand. And like he looks around as if he's looking for someone, but there's no one there. It's just you and me, Daddy, oh, I don't know you, you left. That's not possible.

Yeah, yes, yes, it is. Flip. So if you guys are the ones that, you know, any kind of like gestures to his bits and bobs, if you guys are the ones who like brought me back, then you must have like, you know, loved me or something. I must have been important to someone.

And I the only thing I've ever wanted is a home and a family. And if I had that here, I wouldn't have left. So do you, I mean, he pauses for a second. You don't, you didn't remember my name.

I do now. It's dad. Dad is a title, not a name. My name is Richard.

Well, you know, kids don't know their parents names until they're a lot older. So I understand. The man who brought you here, what's his name? Maximus and Nell brought me here.

Yep, that's good. You're remembering things now. When, when you came back, you had troubles remembering things. You, we would talk to you and have conversations just like this.

And then the next day, I would walk in or one of the other researchers would walk in and do an act like they were strangers. You didn't know who they were, but now that's not an issue for you, correct? You've, you've grown past that? You're able to form and create memories, but you don't remember your time here.

I have no idea what you're talking about. You're not making any sense. Do you still have the dog? Yeah, yeah, I have flop.

That's, that's good. Flop was, was very helpful. You, you started to just barely, but you started to remember things after we gave you flop. He, he helped a lot.

I think this like flashes something like nothing coherent or anything, but like I think like Flip kind of puts his head in his hands at an experience is maybe like a bit of a headache. Okay. I don't, I can't remember anything. What, what, what is your first memory then?

It was, there was an alley and I don't know what happened, but flop and I were in that alley and flop was hurt real bad. And I remember fixing him with the only way I really knew how, which I don't know how I knew what I knew, but I managed to put him back together with some, with some, with some metal and tools and then we were running from something out. It's okay. It's okay.

So you, you made, you helped fix flop kind of like how we fixed you. Who am I? So you know what our goal is, what our mission is, right? We want to return to the planet.

Right, because the planet is our home. It's, it's not right for us to be up here. That's correct. We, we want to learn about the world.

We want to make ourselves, we want to learn about what happened. We want to make ourselves able to go and then we want to go. We've got some people that currently go live on islands here and there. It's, it's dangerous and they, they aren't fully connected with the, you know, the group anymore, but they do, they do live there.

And from time to time we may contact you them. Right, Tera Colonies. I remember these. Yeah.

A man named Amzi, he, he found you on, on the beach one day and you were, you were gone. And he felt like he had to save you. He thought that if, if he could find a child on the planet and bring them back, then it was a sign that we were on the first steps to returning. We, we brought people back before, but normally they were only gone for a day or so.

And well, a few days after he sent out contact, one of our chips saw his, you know, his flare and his balloon and they came to get you and then they brought you here. And then a few days later we, we got you well up and running again, but we didn't know how long you were out there in the world. It was at least a week or two from when Amzi first found you. So when you came back, you weren't, you weren't all you.

You couldn't remember things. Normally we'd ask people what their name was and they would have a name. They may not remember everything about their life, but they'd remember, you know, who they are, what their job is, their loved ones and we didn't with you. But, but you were important because you were the first one that we brought back after such a long time and someone that was found on the planet.

We weren't sure if you were someone that lived on the world and got lost or if you fell off a ship and got returned to the other shore by, you know, the planet itself. We don't know. Flip sort of like takes all this in kind of rubbing his temples and kind of struggling to process all this information after a few seconds after five seconds or so. So why did I, why did I leave?

I have asked myself that question ever since you left. We tried to treat you nice. We gave you meals. We got you a dog, but you were, you were scared.

You were always scared. We tried to give you freedoms so that you would feel more at home, but because you would forget things, we had to put some limitations on that because we didn't want you to forget who we were and well, attack us or, you know, we didn't know what we didn't know. So we put some limitations there and things were going well. We were giving you a bit more freedom.

We weren't, you know, at first we had to, you know, lock the doors to make sure you wouldn't, you know, wander off and it seemed like things were going good. You were improving. And then one day you were gone. We tried to contact the ship that left that morning, but you must have gotten on the ship and, you know, stowed away and only finally got back ahold of them.

They had no idea that they transported you. You were just gone. Looked for you. We couldn't find you.

But yeah, you left and you took the flop. You took flop with you. Okay. So I'm back now.

What's where do we start this back up? Well, you still don't remember your life before, but we may be able to work on that. I'm not quite sure. I think he's about to say something and then an alarm goes off.

And like something like looks up and then he runs to the door and like looks like a really loud blaring alarm, you know, alarm's going off. Like there's an attack or you don't know exactly this, but like something bad is happening, whether it's an attack or like whether or something was something I said. I hush and he looks out on the hallway, looks left, he looks right. And I think that we're going to cut back to Hera and Salt and Salt King.

So not at the same time, but we are back on your guys's vessel that is still unnamed. And you guys are flying from a distance behind Leah. Who is actually flying? Remind me.

I think Hera is. Oh, 100%. Okay. And I'm trying to remember, do you have a piloting skill or a navigation skill?

I do. Let me check what it is because I think it's, let me check. Because I mean, or even like a stealth skill is the other potential though. I have to tell the world stealth skill.

I'm highlighting, okay, which I believe. And then if it is relevant, I have a two in, I have three in stealth. Okay. If you, I mean, you can roll the stealth, it's going to be a disadvantage because you're also trying to pile it.

So I'll give you a black dice because it's more complex than being stealthy. You're trying to be stealthy with a ship. And that's difficult. Like you're trying to essentially run those like engines on a lower power at a distance.

You're trying to like hide in the cloud. It's like it's more moving slowly based on wind. Exactly. Yeah.

It's much more complex than you just slinging in the shadows. But yeah, you are driving the ship. And so I guess while you're doing that, what is salt or salt getting up to? So I think salt's on the front of the ship trying to get, I don't know, kind of standing there waiting to hear because I don't remember if it was Joe or Aria.

We have playing the mole on the other ship. But what are those two? We did with him. Isn't it?

Yeah, I forget which one. I completely forgot that that was a thing. Let me check my notes because yeah, that. Right.

Because before Flip left, he completed Birth of the Fusal, but also in Vid Today's Short Range Radio. So the person on the inside can shoot back updates to us. So, but I forget if it was Joe or Aria. I want to say it's Joe because Aria, I think, is the engineer originally that the crew into a room tied up for two days.

I mean, you guys also kind of forgot about him for a bit. Yes. Joe is a wend to just grudgingly useful. Yeah, I think Joe makes sense.

It may not be right, but that makes sense because I don't have in my notes because it's been a while. Remember folks, retcons are fair game because it's been a minute. But I think he's standing at the salt, standing at the front, just kind of waiting like, come on. You gotta have something.

It's just like trying to get it to work. Right. Fiddles with a button. He's like, nah, it's going to tip him off.

Come on, radio in. Okay, I'm going to just do a D100 relative to see how good this goes. But let's see. So, so I really do 100.

One is the best thing possible. A 100 is the worst thing possible. We're only 98. 97.

So, it's just it's just 20. It's just, let me roll like three of them to prove that it's not BS. 1981, 13. See, I'm not cheating.

It's just 100 is really good. What is this crap? I can flip it. I can flip it, but it's going to be flipped forever, but not for the 98.

You already decided. So, I will change it for 100s good, and one is bad. But the one you're already in play. Something bad happened.

So, you get, you get a crackle, like there's a noise and then the radio cracks in and you hear Joe. Mr. Salt? Yeah, Joe, go ahead.
