We are back with Tidefall Episode 16. It has been a few months over here, early 2022 now. So yeah, how people doing? What's going on?
What's going on? The world has changed a little bit, I guess, until last recording, but not much, unfortunately. It's a year. It has started.
Yeah, it's COVID still around, so that's great. It is, yeah. It's more like handled in some ways, in other ways, not as nearly as handled, but yeah, it's around still. It feels like Amacron's starting to maybe fizzle out.
Yeah. Still wear masks or at least I am. I think, I'll be honest, I think I'm just going to wear masks when I go to certain places for probably a year. I love not having to shave my scruff.
I like not having to make myself as presentable in the winter. It helps keep you a bit warmer. It is warmer. I just don't care.
I'm just going to keep doing it. I was doing something on Twitter today about how one of the most prevalent flu strains has basically been eliminated because of masking and has been shown like in large quantities for like two years. So yeah, no, and plus I've just started noticing how gross people are coughing everywhere. So yeah, I'm just going to start wearing masks forever.
I may stop wearing the N95s someday probably, but masking I think is 100% 100% at least for certain people. I mean, there's a lot of people that are like, oh, we're done. But for me, I'm in a long haul. Yeah, I'm in a long haul, you know, depending where I go.
Like, I'm not wearing a mask when I go to a drive through fast food anymore. I was doing that for a year and a half just as a safety net. I don't do that anymore. But you know, if I'm going in to get food or I'm like going to go into a grocery store or I'm wearing a mask until maybe forever, I don't know.
We'll see. I have a flight next month. So that's the first time I'm flying in a couple of years. Yeah, I haven't flown since this all started.
It is interesting to keep a face mask on for basically. Well, I flew to Hawaii and keeping that on and going through the extra checks. And for Hawaii, you had to fill out a form with proof of yes, I am vaccinated before you have to supply this negative test or they even allow you to get on the plane basically. Yeah, islands, I'm sure.
Right. Yeah. It does make you feel a bit safer when you're there. Like when you were there, they still masking hard or because everyone had that form.
Yes. A lot of places masks were a must, the 50% restaurant occupancy was a must. I know I feel like I have a lot safer in terms of COVID when I was there versus here. Yeah, I mean, Iowa, especially the Midwest is a.
No way to. Yeah. It's over. Yeah.
I felt like really oddly, this is, I don't know if this is going to make any sense. But we went to Disney World in like November. So kind of like towards the end of the year. And I felt oddly very safe there.
I mean, I'm sure they worked very hard to make it feel that way. But like they have all their rules and stuff and outdoors or outdoors. But every time we went inside for any reason, we were masked up and everyone was masked up and everything was very nice. And I come here and fucking walking into the, walking into the cases to go get like a die doctor pepper or something.
And I'm just like, no one's, I'm much more scared here than I was at Disney World, which is kind of crazy to think about. Yeah. Also, for some reason, just out of remembrance of the first digital recording we did in early 2020. Man, that was a long time ago.
And it's like, oh, yeah, we got, you know, about the time that I think we said, by the time this episode is out, we'll be done with this a little. Oh, man. So, we gave Paul shit for being sick. Like, yeah, yeah.
That's what I mean. I think, I think, yeah, the last recording we did in person, Paul was six. We had at Monica's house. And I think I, I was like, maybe getting sick and I was a bit concerned.
And I think at one point, the episode, I had to like cough and I like stepped away to cough away from the table. And it was like an awkward, it would be a weird setup in Monica's place. But yeah, it was, it was a very different time now, two years later. I'll tell you that I don't remember that that cough, but I do remember the wonderful beers that Monica and her husband provided that was.
I don't even remember what we had. I don't remember either. I just remember that I really liked it. And I drank a little too much.
Ah, yeah. Well, that's what hosting is for. Yeah, either way. The world is the world.
That's a, I don't want to dwell too long on COVID. It's just part of life now. I should be anything else exciting going on people's lives before we jump into the game proper. The weather is so nice today.
I know it's a full spring, but like, oh man, it just feels like the world is getting better just because things are nice out. I didn't check the weather. I went to take trash out and I put on like my big winter coat because it's, you know, we're recording this. You never know.
And then I go, it's like, what's going on? It's nice. It's nice. Yeah.
It's nice that yeah, it's feeling like what the world is getting better and the weather is getting better. And yeah, it's a new year. It's still the same world, but it's on the afternoon. I went and watched the dog and an old lady stopped to pet him.
And she was just like walking back from the gas station. And she just gave, she said, can I give her a dog a treat? And she just gave him the biggest milk bone. Like it was so huge.
I didn't even realize they made like dog treats that big. Was this a dog park? Or this was just a random lady that had to pet a dog bone? Okay.
Just like walking, everybody's got their dogs out and just walking and enjoying the weather. And yeah, so her life is apparently just, you know, doing her daily walk to the gas station and then, you know, giving treats to dogs and petting random dogs. So like, good for her. What a great life.
That's not cool. I think everybody's everybody's. I don't know enjoying the weather and getting outside. Even if it lasts like two more days, which yeah, we're still in February, but yeah, I'm sure it will change in a couple of weeks, but over a couple of days, we know.
Yeah, it'll change in a day. But it's almost, it's almost March, which means it's closer than it has been to actually getting nice. So winter's almost there. We're almost done.
Yep. So with that, I think we're going to wrap up. Stay tuned. We'll be right back for the start of the episode.
See ya. Bye. Old of man at gunpoint. Most of the captive grassgield members were taken to the main street barracks, largest penetrable and most impressive prison in the entirety of flop.
And I believe all of salt's gang is with you. Joe and Araya, I'm going to ask, I don't know if you remember since then. Someone left behind with Leah, who I believe you guys had locked up in your room. Was it your right?
Yeah. Araya sounds right. So maybe it was, yeah, that sounds like me. So it'll be around.
Yeah. Yeah. Flip flop, salt and Joe will be together and then yeah, Araya will be with Leah. So but we're going to start following Hera.
So Hera, you, the other leader of the grassgield that you were having your long tense discussion with was how matte. And then there's a lot of other grassgield members that are all being essentially carted away by the members of the government that cops essentially, the Royal Guard. So you especially are being given high security detail. It's the equivalent of, you know, like a lot of the members, they've been put in some form of shackles, but you've got you and how much, but especially you because you were the one that was caught in what looks like an execution scene.
They are very, very much, have you, you've got probably three or four people at or near you, the rest of them are being, you know, carted off there, you know, there's like a guy for every couple of people and they're just making sure they stay in line. And at the moment, the grassgield is not causing too much of a scene, but they're very, very cautious of you. They've obviously disarmed you. Oops.
Yeah, you don't have your weaponry. We'll deal with that afterwards. But yeah, your weaponry has currently been taken away from you and you are being walked through the streets to the prison because you're only a couple blocks away. So it's not like, you know, the people are saying it's just they're carting you guys through the streets and you guys, and you, especially, but a lot of the other brassgield members are getting looks from various civilians.
And I think a lot of them are sort of cheering on the arrest of the grassgield. They don't know who you are, obviously, but they recognize the brassgield as a whole. So I think you probably get are getting lumped in with the brassgield as, you know, a member of the guild who's causing problems in town. Everyone has sort of known that the town has been getting a bit darker and gang influences and things like that.
So I think they're excited to see this big group of people at this large arrest occurring. I don't think it's to the extreme of, you know, food getting thrown at you, but you're definitely getting yells and jeers at you in the crowd. Double oops. Do you do anything during this?
Are you trying to keep an eye on things or is this just you just sort of quietly being taken in to prison? Nope. I think Cara is playing it pretty close to the chest. I think she's not resisting or anything.
I think she's just walking along, trying to keep her head down. I think she's watching things to the best of her ability, but I also think she's feeling pretty dejected. So nope, she's just trying not to get her ass beat. Okay.
Was there ever a time in your past because you were part of the brassgield previously, you left and now you're getting like reassociated with them. Is this bringing back any sort of memories for you or is this something that ever happened in the past for you or like, is there conflict now? You're going to get away with now that to the people you are back in there. Is that some form of like internal conflict or?
Yeah, I think Cara has been arrested a couple of times before. I don't think anything for anything serious, but I think she's been kind of in the brassgield lineup before. And I think she's kind of having some memories of early in her brassgield career. Okay, flashback to that.
Back before everything got so complicated. Yeah. And when you left the brassgield, was it directly after one of these arrests or was it just was it like a fight with someone, whether that fight was with Leah or someone else in the brassgield higher up? I think it was both.
I think it was kind of a job gone wrong situation where like, you know, something something went south and then there was kind of a fight internally with leadership about the results of that. Okay. And that caused me to book it. Okay.
Yeah, I think it probably wouldn't necessarily like the fight with the ship wouldn't be like the guy in charge like Gabriel Cobb was someone that I believe came up a while ago in the campaign that like you would have heard the name. You probably at the time weren't, you know, you weren't fighting with him, but you know, you've heard of his name. You got into fights yourself with Leah and probably someone higher up in the actual like, you know, military side of things and that less than like corporate piece. No, no, I don't think I was high up enough for that.
I think she likes to think she was high up enough for that, but I don't know. I think pretty good level leadership. So yeah, you've got these memories of fights and maybe the last time you were arrested, what was the last time you were arrested was the last time you arrested when the brassgield have you been arrested as a mercenary since then? No, no, no, I think just it was the brassgield.
I think it's I mean kind of bringing back the idea that like, man, she really hasn't gotten anywhere as far as she's, you know, run and as different as things, you know, supposedly are she's got her own ship, at least for the last, you know, month or whatever. But I guess nothing actually has changed. Yeah, you use a person have grown a lot, but you still sort of ended up where you are. You've got your ship.
It's not the brassgield ship. It's your ship. You've had that ship for a couple of months. You've got new friends, new crew mates, but you still ended up in a bar yelling another member of the brassgield, getting arrested after a near, you know, death experience potentially as you and him both had a lot of guns pointed at you.
So yeah, it's pretty, you're emotionally in a very different place, but you are physically in a very similar place because yeah, it's just things can be cyclical. So okay. So yeah, you're just quietly getting walked in to through the streets, getting yelled at. And then I think the camera will sort of pull back as you go to enter the actual prison itself and the doors shut behind you in the group.
And we pull back to where salt flip and the rest are sort of observing this from the streets. I assume you guys would have followed behind to sort of see what was happening. Okay. Like the night.
So during this procession, is there anything that you would have wanted to do? We can sort of flashback to something if it would have made sense as one to sort of narrate that her going into prison. If you would have wanted to say or look or do something you can, but what if there is not if you just want to sort of watch and make sure everything was up on the level that works too. So I think salt's gonna look at flip and be like, all right, for now we're just gonna tail them.
We haven't got much of a choice. I'm gonna see if I can pull another favor with Major Rasmussen, but uh, this is one of those choose your battles type of moment. I think oh, good to see some of those lessons are sticking. It's not really the words make sense, but applying them is challenging.
Well, fair. Life is full of those. Okay. So you guys have this conversation as you're walking, but otherwise you are not going to be interacting at all with the crowd or with the brass guild or the government officials, you're just sort of keeping an eye from the streets, right?
I think flip might slip like to the back of the crowd and kind of mimic some of the cheers kind of shitting on the brass guild for some personal sort of catharsis. Right. Cool. Yeah.
Salt definitely has that small smirk of like, yeah, that sucks. But you know, as salt's walking, he's piecing it together in his head. He's like, the hell are they thinking that many brass guild in the same spot and a known bomb maker in a prison altogether? What the hell?
Okay. Nothing like that goes through flips. Yeah, there's definitely a moment where, yeah, you know, salt has, he's like running numbers, he walked through the prison itself. You like, you would know that that prison is full at this point.
Like, they had a couple of rooms and now they've got, you know, every room is going to be like, essentially, you know, shoulder to shoulder full of brass guild. You know, they may have had like one or two, like holding rooms that were separate, which will, you know, likely be where the key players go, right? But otherwise, yeah, the prison will be just full of brass guild. And you know that that is potentially problematic, you know, that it's, you know, it's, it's a thing that you know, you've been it, you've been it, you've been it, you've seen it.
So you visualize all that in your head, then you sort of cut back and you have this realization. And then we cut over to, uh, to flip who's just yelling, yeah, fuck you, whatever, whatever you say, you're just like yelling at them. I want to say that. Sarah definitely sees, uh, the gering and like that's the one thing that's like God, fucking damn it, of course.
The jeering from flip. Oh, oh yeah. She sees flip for sure. Okay.
Cool. Get out of our town. Gold is better. Is there, do the two of you lock eyes while flip is going out the group or is this just a thing that notices and looks away?
I think blocking eyes is kind of what makes flip stopping us. Oh, okay. Yeah. The two of you lock eyes and there's that flash of, you know, hair, a rage that you feel.
She can't do anything. She can't do any guys. And I think keeps, keeps walking and looks somewhere else. But like, yeah, the rage, the rage transmits, I think there's probably a moment where flip things wait is here about to hit me and then or something on the screen, yell at me like there's something there's there, you're like expect something, but then you realize, oh no, she can't do anything but it's impossible.
It has to be impossible, but it's not willing to take the risk. Yeah, there's, there's very much connection between the two of these characters. So, okay. So you follow them back to the prison and they take everyone inside and the doors shut behind them after they've taken everyone inside.
Probably the last one in would have been, you know, the, actually trying to think to the major, I feel like the major would have gone during this. I think while this process was occurring, he may have not been in that initial engagement, but after they, you know, got word that they were resting, you know, 15 or so brass gilt members, he would have come out to see this and he looks around, looks around the crowd, sees everyone sort of like cheering, slash jeering at the brass gilt and cheering on the, you know, the cops, you know, shutting down the gang activity and he looks around the crowd and then I think at one point, I'm just going to roll. No, it's all, you're not being, you're not like hiding anywhere, right? No.
He'd just be in the crowd. Okay. So I think he sees you and he looks at you and gives you a confused look, shakes his head and then goes inside of the prison. Damn, it's like he's in my mind.
It's like he was going to hit you, but he can't, right? Anything happened to each guy. So is there anything immediate that salt or flip would do or is this going to be potentially a waiting game or you want to say in an hour, I want to do this? Or what's what's the timeline there?
Because obviously there's more things going on inside the prison. I don't want to say before here, but you guys, I think for some of it's like, there's a bit of street, there's not a lot of available, it's busy, it's loud. So tries to meet eyes with Joe and flip and points up, like let's get on top of a building or something and get advantage over the prison. Okay.
And flip, flip had one that he used previously. So yeah, flip can lead the way to where you previously were on top of a building. Perfect. I don't want to bog, maybe we do, but I figure at this point, there would be some planning and whatever the plan ends up being, I would like to spend this time before we do anything, probably crafting like a gadget or something to help with whatever plan we come up with.
If we're going to come up with it right now, if we're going to like play it out as we do it, I don't know. Yeah. So I think for now, the four of you, Joe Flip, Salt and Flop, we'll go on top of the building you found and I think immediately flip starts tinkering with something and then we'll deal with what that is and the planning later. But I think for now, we will let you guys do your thing.
Let's say you guys want to talk on observe for like an hour or so, like, and then we'll jump back to see what you guys are doing in a bit. That makes sense? Okay. So, Hara, you were taken inside of this building.
And as I said before, you've got, you know, no more people, you know, handling of them the others. Like you've got probably like someone on both sides, you know, keeping, you know, like an arm on both of your arms to make sure you're not going to try anything funny. And yeah, you've got a lot of muscle around you keeping you in line. Most of the brass gilled members are put in a couple of different holding cells.
There's probably three of them, I'll say that they're split up between, I shouldn't have to this way. No, it'll just be two holding cells and they're pretty full up. They've got probably eight or 10 people in each one of them. And there were a couple people in prison before, as you'd see, but now the prison is probably 90% brass gilled because there was a couple that was arrested a couple days ago.
The flip was keeping eye on and then now there's a lot more. There were some other random criminals, but the prison is pretty much full up of brass gilled. But you and Homat are taken to two separate rooms. You're put in the room, put in a chair, and then they take off your initial shackles and they like tie something to secure you to the table itself.
And they put you in the room and then they close the door. And you're waiting for an amount of time. During this time, is there anything you would want to do or think about, plan, prepare, or is this just a quiet waiting period? I think there's a lot of moping and quiet contemplation, but I want to do a couple of things just to have some options later on.
So how secure are, I'm assuming they're like handcuffs or something, is it anything that I might be able to use a scale or something to kind of get those at least looser or off if possible? Definitely. Yeah, you could it be a different difficulty if you want to remove them or just make them the looser, but you definitely could. I feel like Skuldogery would make the most sense here.
Yeah. Unless something else makes sense. But I think Skuldogery to me makes the most sense. Street-wise, or Skuldogery, but I want to do something more like knowing things and Skuldogers doing the things.
So are you wanting to remove them or just make them a looser? Let's see if we can take those babies off and then just like keep them so it looks like I still have them on. Okay. So not only you're taking them off, but you're trying to like keep like you want to conceal that.
Okay. That's gonna be pretty tough. It's gonna be a difficulty for purple because you like they were very explicit in the way they like tied you up very tightly. They are put on tight.
They're put on with like, it's gonna be right. They're bad at things. They spend as they say they're really bad at these one day from retirement and he just doesn't give a shit. You can definitely spend a story point to give yourself an upgrade.
That's an up. That's a different thing. But yeah, to both to both to both yeah, to both conceal it to remove it, conceal it like it's a tricky thing. If you just wanted to remove them or just want to make them looser that'd be easier, but to both remove them but make it look like they're still locked would be a lot trickier.
No, let's just try to remove them and then maybe I can push it away out of it if anybody asks. Okay, so I'll get that out of just a little too three and so forth. Okay, cool. I am reprimanded if you want to roll it.
Rolling now. Boom. So it was close, but not quite. You got a net of one failure and two advantage.
So what does an advantage look like? So you you're unable to unlock the locks, but in some ways you helped yourself whether you gave yourself a little bit, you loosen the locks a bit, maybe just dealt with some stress because it's obviously a stressful situation. What, what, what you gain out of this? Yeah, I think maybe just a little bit.
Can I, so yeah, they're a little bit looser. So I think she like understands the mechanism a little bit more. Even if it's not like they feel looser, even if they're not actually just kind of like she's got the, she's got a little bit more information and that's soothing. And so, and she knows a little bit more about what to try again.
Okay, so yeah, I think for the next, whatever you do next with dealing with these things, you'll even give yourself two blue dice on the next, the next check basically dealing with these things. There's nothing to be the next check with the next check involving these things. I have two blue. Gotcha.
So that takes a couple minutes. Other than trying it to free yourself, is there any sort of like looking around the room? Is it just, or is it just a lot of quiet contemplation after you've like, you know, things, things are a bit rough in here? No, let's glance around and see what's, what's around the room?
Is there like a two-way mirror? Okay. Every, every cop show? No, I don't think because we, it's still essentially like pseudo post-apocalyptic, right?
It's not, you know, they don't have, in some ways, I have to always look tech. So they don't have a two-way mirror. It's just a very barren room with a table. The door has bars on it.
So they can like, they can look in on you without coming into the room. The door has locked, a lock on it that was locked. And then there's a table of two chairs on one side is you, and you've got essentially, you know, one latch, your left wrist, one latch for the right wrist, locking you to the table itself. And you've got probably, you know, like six to eight inches of movement.
So you can't like, you know, put your two hands across each other, but you've got a little bit of movement, not much movement, which is why it's a bit trickier to unlock these things, because it's, it's pretty, it's pretty secured in. And then another chair on the side of the table is where presumably someone's going to sit to talk with you. Okay, well, metal table, and then probably wooden chairs. And I know they took all of my obvious weapons, but is there a chance that they left something that could be used as an improvised stabbing weapon of some sort?
Um, what do you have on you? Um, I think so the big thing that would have been nice is my knife, which I think Tara is just like feeling where it would normally sit, like extremely frustrated. Because it's almost like a comfort object, I think. Wait, sorry.
Can you come back? I think you're in a minute of swiped for a second. Can you say what that was again? Yeah, yeah.
So I think she's missing her knife, which I think is she's really frustrated and I think maybe is like a comfort object. Yeah, yeah. And knife and your, your main weaponry would be gone. I think she, man, would they have left anything?
I think maybe she's got, maybe like a connection things. Yeah, it'd be like little bits of coins. Damn, I really wish you had a chat. Yeah.
Yeah. Um, but any obviously we have really knives, guns, pistols, those are taken away. But if you've got other things, I don't know what kind of stuff you have, we don't mechanically write down every little thing that you have. But like other little things you would think that Tara would have on her, you would have on you.
Um, because I haven't, you know, like, you know, had you switch into, you know, your criminal scrubs, I don't remember what those are called, but you haven't like, you're still in your clothes. They haven't, you know, process you get essentially. I think what happens is basically everything that was in her pockets and like on her is gone. Uh, I think they probably took her coat, but I think she has a couple of bracelets that are basically just leather straps just kind of like circled with like some, like kind of fancy gold looking metal, probably not actual gold, but like chain links on it.
So it just looks like bracelets. But I think there's probably a fairly, if you're able to cut that down, I bet there's some lengths of like leather strap there that could be useful. Makes sense. Okay.
So you're sort of realizing this, taking account of what you've got in the room, what's going on, where you're at, you attempted to unlock yourself and you sort of learned a bit from these methods, but you didn't actually, you know, you didn't free yourself, but you sort of know a bit more as to how these things work. Um, and then I think a door opens up. Um, you look up and you see to the audience, you would see that this is Major Rasmussen. Um, you've not interacted with this person before, correct?
It was just something went in. Um, and you may have, would, I'm trying to remember Salted. You tell the rest of the group, the neighbors person you knew or were you just told them you've got a friend there? Oh, no.
I, uh, you know, initially mentioned it, but of course when it, uh, backfired rather famously, I would have, uh, told the rest. Yeah. Okay. So either way, you would have, at least I haven't heard this person's name.
His name is Major Rasmussen. He's someone that used to work with Salted. Um, but they went on different group passes. The nice way to put that.
Um, he steps in. He looks like a guy that's in charge. Um, he's got, you know, some old battle wounds on him. Um, he's not old, but he's older.
Um, I bet older than Salted from him, right? And, uh, he sort of sits down, looks at you and sort of says like, like closes eyes for a second, shakes his head, opens them up. So he pauses. So yeah, what, what, what's your name?
He calls his paper and he like starts to take his notes. What's your name? Um, what's your affiliation with the rest guild? Uh, uh, that's a good question.
Uh, I don't think I have to tell you that and none. And I wouldn't tell you even if it wasn't of your business. Okay. Um, I think to the us and the audience, we see him write down the word problematic on the piece of paper.
So, okay. So you're not wanting to answer any questions. Um, okay. Um, is there anything that you do want to tell me about what happened at the, at the bar?
Well, it wasn't my fault. Uh, I'll give you that much. But other than that, no, I think you probably will get everything you need from people who aren't me. Okay.
And then yeah, we see another note, uh, refuses to say what happened at the Crooked Cog. Um, I'm not the one with the bomb. I'm just saying. Did you check the other guy?
We're, we're working on that. Um, right now everyone is suspect. Um, there was a, what sounded like a potential terrorist act where that's a guy, uh, told there was a bomb. Everyone ran away.
And we call him and you are, uh, holding a man, what looks like hostage about to be executed. So, whether or not, uh, what you says or he says is true. We need to treat everything with, uh, that kind of misrepresentation of the situation, obviously. Uh, but at this point, are you calling my 12 men that reported coming on the scene and seeing you point a gun at another man's head, uh, as liars?
I'm just going to just represent his other quick, he takes another quick note on the piece of paper. Okay. Uh, and, and if that's misrepresented, can you explain what happened on your end? I mean, it could, but it wouldn't actually help the situation.
So I'm not going to. I'm just saying, you know, if your men were to ask the man in question, what happened, maybe that would be helpful to you. And that's all I'm going to say. Do I get a lawyer?
Are there lawyers in this world? I don't feel like lawyers would be a thing in this world. Uh, there's definitely in my head, I'm like, don't say anything without a lawyer. Don't say anything without a lawyer.
Can I have my lawyer? No. Um, I'm trying to make a effect. Hey, yeah.
So I think, yeah, the internet is a difficult thing. So there is a moment where, um, you would say, like they're not lawyers per se, but they're people that can assist with legal disputes. They wouldn't necessarily call the lawyers. They're not, they don't have as much help, but there are certain people that have dealt with the government more and they're like, if you say this or say this, they can help you.
So they wouldn't be the term lawyer, but you'd like a number of people have friends that know how to deal with the government. Um, it's probably the best way to describe that as a former rich person. I'm pretty sure she would have something to have had this set up. So let's call them, uh, an advocate or something like that makes sense.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think, yeah, yeah, I think, yeah, we'll backtrack and say, yeah, do it.
Do I get an advocate? Um, I would, I would like to speak to an advocate at this point. Okay. I will see what can be done.
And he leaves. Uh, let's cut to, uh, flip and salt for a minute. So the two of you are, I assume discussing plans. Um, we can go deep into the money show or we can just jump into what's going on.
What are you doing? That's kind of up to you. Um, but if you want to make a plan or discuss that, you can. Um, at some point we'll have a flip roll for the device that he's making, but we don't know what that is yet.
So I'm not going to do that yet. But I'll say, what is your, what is your initial thoughts? So I've been learning about this concept called, um, irony. Um, and I was thinking of bomb because just cause, um, and then yeah, uh, that's all I had.
That was the end of my thought. Well, all I'm saying is we've got what about 15 to 20 brass gill members in there plus a high level bomb maker. Then I'm going to let that many assets go. Something's going to happen.
Somebody's breaking out, but there might be something to that bomb thing. We got a feeling there's going to be a prison break. I call it a hunch. I'm going to get here out of there.
I did not expect you to be on board with the bomb plan, but I just owe excited you are. I mean, anything to put a little bit of egg on Rasmussen's face. I'm totally down for it because if this works out the way I'm hoping, I'm going to have the biggest I told you. So I'll put it in the Christmas card.
I send them next year. Okay. I'm going to get started. Okay.
So you, um, start building a bomb. So let's roll a, uh, check for that. Do you have any sort of. These are talents for a student inventing things or do I know I can't, I know I can't get these in the bank, but I basically like either inventing something new or just building something.
Inventor, when you're trying to make to check to construct new items or modify existing ones, use this, use this talent to add a number of blue dice equal to, uh, ranks of inventor. I have two. In addition, your character may attempt to reconstruct devices that they have heard described, but have not seen and do not have any kind of plans or schematics for. Okay.
So the second one will allow you to essentially make the thing without really having a plan for it. You can just like you've heard it described and you can figure it out. Um, and then you get two blue dice to actually help you assist in building the thing. Uh, can you describe how big of a bomb do you want to make?
How do you want it to just be like make a big bomb to take out a wall? Is it one of you like, I want the bomb to do the very specific thing like like a focus charge, just like shoot like how do you want to do this? Cause that'll sort of determine the difficulty of the check. How do you want to do?
How much egg do you want on Rasmussen's face? I would like at least if we can get hair out of there and show him how easy it is to bust somebody up. Maybe not touch that a bomb maker guy. That could not be enough considering right now I'm pretty sure she's one of their high profile prisoners.
So you okay, so just like a wall. Okay. I wasn't sure if you wanted me to take out like the cafeteria. Okay.
I mean, I'm sure that cafeteria is cause more injury than we're about to do, but you know, okay. Got it. So, of course, story from the time I was in there. Precision egg on face got it surgical.
Yeah. So to build a bomb to take out a wall. I think I can't like maybe like two charges if I can get it with it. Um, um, but definitely at least one.
Okay. Um, I think to make a bomb that's large enough and do you have concerns about what is directly in this side of that wall? Yeah. Uh, I think we're going to be trying to take out the wall without harming anybody on the other side of it.
Okay. Um, yeah, that is not a little bit tricky. Obviously. So that I think is going to be a difficulty for, I think that makes sense to me difficulty for check.
Um, is that is a hard? No, that is a daunting task. Yeah, that makes sense to me. Put it in limits.
Yeah. Yeah. That's gonna be daunting task. That's gonna be difficulty for.
So, uh, you've got two blues and then you've got four purples and then you can roll it on your own. That's not a good step to mind. Can I use my mad inventor feet, um, or talent to reduce the difficulty of that check? It's not the proper application of it.
So that's what I'm gonna clarify. Can you read what that says? Uh, once recession, your character may use this talent to make a mechanics check to attempt to cobble together the functional equivalent of any item using spare parts or salvage. Um, so I'm trying to mitigate the difficulty of this by using the talent to just say like, hey, you know, um, I'm cookie crazy and I can make a use of things that might not necessarily equate to bomb to, you know, make a bomb.
Gotcha. Okay. What's the session? Yeah, I will let you.
End of a day. Yeah, I will let you lower the difficulty, but what I will say is because you're using this mad inventor thing, um, bad things that may happen on this may become more problematic for you. Right? Um, so like, for example, if we roll like, you know, the critical failure thing that may be, you're gonna put on mad inventing a bomb is problematic.
So we'll do that. Could possibly go. Yeah. I'm gonna go ahead and go to the pattern instead of two.
And I'm gonna give you a story point and upgrade at my end of the dice. And then you're gonna do the exact same. Okay. I like it.
Uh, and then I get two blues on that. Is that set up? Yeah. Yeah.
I got two blues, uh, four perples and then I'll go to the lens. Okay. I'm ready to go. Same here.
Roll it. First big roll with 2022. Okay. That is a net of two successes and one advantage.
Um, on all the purple dice you rolled nothing, no failures, just to have disadvantaged dice. So yeah, just the two failure on that upgrade. Thanks Jeff. I mean, it had to happen.
The dreaded double X. So you're able to create, uh, this bomb and it is built in a way that it's gonna have a very powerful impact, but it's not going to, like, it's not going to explode a long distance. It's a very high force, low explosion, radius basically so that it, when it hits a thing, it's not going to then send that entire wall into the people in that room and kill people in that room. Right?
So it's gonna be much more focused explosion. It doesn't mean actually getting inside like the wall will be broken, but getting inside like it's not gonna be like, you know, destroyed out, but like, they'll be like cracks in it to like essentially make it easy to get in and out of the place. You guys can like squeeze your way in, but it's not going to like destroy the entire wall because then just running the wall would mean blowing things up into the room killing people potentially. So, but yeah, it's a very focused, um, almost more like a pressure bomb than a like explosive bomb.
So what do you think about it? Um, and you want to make two of them. Um, I think normally the way that would be handled is by spending advantage dice to essentially be like critical factors like multiples with one, I don't know if you have enough to make a second. Um, yeah, I think, I think you're close to making a second.
Maybe you've got the parts to a second one, um, but you haven't actually finished building. You just don't have the supplies here to make it with the caveats you've got, which is you don't want it to be like largely explosive. You want it to be more safe for the people in the room. Okay.
So I don't have enough time to make a second one. Exactly. Yeah. Maybe I need to go back to 22.
Yeah. Like if you want to just make a second bomb that's just like blow things up bomb, then we're doing, but like to make this more specialized bomb is a bit trickier. You know what, why not? Let's just make a blow stuff up.
Okay. So you've got two bombs. One is explosive bomb and one is like, uh, safety pressure bomb. Yeah.
So we've got the safety bomb and the danger bomb. Yep. Cool. So, uh, while you're building these bombs, I feel like this is going to take a bit of time to do, um, what is salt and gang up to while he's building bombs?
Like are they, are you having them assist anyway? Or is this more they keep an item thing or what? Uh, Joe's just kind of like looking around. I can see him.
Be like, all right. I know that the windows are barred and they're not that big, but can you see anybody from this vantage in some of those windows and, um, yeah, Joe's, so are you staying down and he's one looking over the walls? Is what it sounds like? Yeah.
Okay. Um, and he's looking down. He's like, I mean, kind of, but you know, it's, it's just, it looks really full. Um, you know, there's, I can't, I can't see Hera.
I can't see the anyone else specific, but it just looks like, you know, whenever the door's open, it just looks like they're very full and busy. Lots of people coming going. Maybe better yet. Who do the front door?
You haven't seen Raspousum come out of you know, no, no, he, he went in after he gave you that look. He, uh, hasn't been on since. I'm gonna drag him out of there somehow too. What's up?
What's up with you and him? Um, again, he gave it a look at it. You went to Austin. Things didn't seem to go well and I'm just curious.
Long story short, tidefall has a prisoner spy program for a reduced sentence. I took it and, uh, I'm effective. He doesn't really care for my methods, especially when I waltz into his office and flipping the bird. Wait, so, so you're a prisoner?
But not, and he gives you like, um, so long, long story. And if we get out of this, maybe I'll explain it. Okay. Um, does flip here, this or see you focus on the bomb to hear any discussion about how salt is the prisoner slash criminal slash working with the government.
Is any, would you avert any of that? Probably not. It's a, it's a good component. Yeah.
He's like singing his making a bomb song. Okay. Can we get a sample of that? You know, for the listeners, the song song, right?
But just the bomb bomb. Good. I like the way the bell, uh, the bomb bomb bomb. So yeah, that takes probably, I don't know, an hour or so to build, you know, the first bomb you look around, you can't make a second of that, but you make another basic dirty bomb.
Um, you pack them away. Dirty bomb is a very specific thing. Yes. Yeah.
Not that you got, yeah. You got your, sorry. My brain, I'd listen to other D&D podcasts and they called a dirty 20 and I forgot, I hadn't heard that term a long time. My brain has just been using the word dirty in D&D terms lately.
Um, so you build your two bombs, your safe bomb and your danger bomb and you put those away. And do you have, how do you transport these things? Um, because especially the explosive bomb is a bit more volatile. Uh, do you like, do you carry them, like, out in your hands?
You like try to pack them away and away that you keep them secure? What does this look like as you finish your bombs in preparation for whatever you do with them? What do you do next? Uh, one goes in my left pocket.
Uh, the other one goes in my right pocket. Okay. Cool. You just jump in pockets.
I like it. No, I'm ready to go. Okay. We, we see flip put the two bombs into his pockets.
Uh, we look down and, um, it looks, to, to salt, it looks a little bit strange. Um, but you know, no one would expect a kid carrying multiple bombs on him. So like he's probably stuff, you know, to an adult that doesn't mean maybe it's a kid stuff, a couple of toys and this pockets, right? And you don't think much of it.
Flippy careful with those things. I know your history with bombs isn't exactly a stellar. I've learned a lot about bombs. That's fair.
That is very fair. Hopefully we never have to make another one of these once we're done. So the, uh, let's not talk about this. That's fair.
We'll keep the, uh, ethical questions of our actions for later. Okay. So the two of you look down to where the, um, prison is and you start heading down to do something. Is everyone going to be going down?
Is it just going to be, um, salt or what? All right. Here's the plan. I'm going to wall it up to the front.
See if I can get a audience with Mr. Raspason. You too sneak around the back and see if you can, uh, get in. I'm going to try emphasis on try and, uh, find out exactly what cell she's in and so we can get her out of there.
Okay. Wait. So do you want us to get it or should we just like, pretend to try to get in? Cause you want us to get in?
We'll get in. Oh, I believe that. I don't want us blowing anything up until we're ready to blow some up. Got it.
So give it. I would say, uh, trust your judgment, but I feel like that's not the right way to go. Um, yeah, what's your judgment? I'll trust that.
That's fair. So I'm going to try to go in and if, uh, then I'm going to try to find you some of those sideways, if it doesn't, there's not glass on those barred windows, I'm going to try to give you a signal out one of them, hopefully. Okay. So, uh, you guys head down, head towards the prison itself and yeah, flip goes.
It sounds like around the back and then, uh, salt, uh, goes into the front door. I think we're going to take a quick break here. Uh, but yeah, we end the part as, uh, the door close behind you as you walked inside the prison. Uh, I thought you think that I thought.
Yeah. I mean, it's the big right here inside the prison. Um, but yeah, right now they're inside is very busy and like as you open the door, there's an immediate noise of like, uh, busy, lots of things happening at once. There's lots of voices talking, people are busy, papers moving around, um, but you're able to open the door and get inside and then we get inside, we'll deal with that.
We'll be back. I like the way the money goes. So we cut back to it with salt opening the door, seeing the chaos amidst the inside of this police station. People moving around, papers are flying, lots of people are doing a lot of things.
What is your reaction to this as you are, um, surprised? I guess you should be surprised, but there's a lot going on. It's much busier police station than it was a number of hours ago earlier today. Right.
Like, oh, well, it's good to see that it's, uh, just as disorganizes, I think it is. Um, so I think what, uh, salt is going to try to do is just going to look for some head office. Cause clearly, like raspousins going to be in there. It's going to try, like the raspous is office previously when you came here.
So, right, he's going to try one more attempted diplomacy. You're like, look, you've got all these guys and a high value target. You can't be that inept. If you are going to be that inept, something will happen.
Okay. So you're just going to, like, do you just walk to his office or do you try to talk to someone? I try to flag somebody down. Okay.
Okay. Is there a reception? Yeah. So I think, um, someone's walking by with a number of papers in their hand and then you like grab them like, Oh, sorry.
What, what? Hey, I'm, uh, looking for a major raspousin there. Any idea where he is? And I think like he notices the papers.
Can I do a perception check to see if I notice what's on? Uh, sure. Um, yeah, let me set up the dice on my end. Good.
Because it gives me time to look at height and perception because I forgot what it does. Yeah. I believe it gives you blue dice. See, yep.
Gives me one, I think we agreed upon because it says ally specifically in the verbage. Yeah. Um, okay. And are you trying to like just see what kind of papers are you trying to like read specifics?
Trying to see like, you know, maybe in the wonderful world of convenience, maybe it's a prisoner log that might have a list of who's where got you. All right. You're all set in here. Yeah.
I'm going to mind rolling three successes. All right. So, um, what you see is it looks like these papers are, um, on at least this top paper, it's just detailing one of the brass gold numbers that looks to be being processed. And so you see a name and a couple, you know, like crime committed and there's a number of things down below.
And it's mostly a large note. So they feel that a lot of notes as to like what, you know, the initial story that was going on at the bar, the second paper in the stack, there's probably five or six of these. Um, you just see the very top of it as like the top of the paper sticking out from the stack and you see a second name going on. So you're working this time.
This is a stack of names of people that are being processed. See with my three successes, can I get any more like a, maybe one specific name or? Um, sure. Yeah, with three successes, I'll give you a name.
