Tidefall E4 (1/3)

from Des Moines and Dragons · host Paul Privitera

Last time on Tidefall... The adventurers were stuck in an explosive situation. Flip jumped onto the bomb to get the others out safely. After Salt fired a hail of bullets and Hera did some convincing to a group of thugs, they escaped, dragging the unconscious Flip to safety. They gathered themselves at the hotel room, and stashed the giant gun. Then they headed to the docks to find a transport ship to get out of the city and escape the pirates. The group split up (as heroes do). Hera walked on board past the Brass Pirates dressed as a noble while Flip and Salt climbed around on the edge of the ship. While waiting for the others, Hera became friends with the lovely old lady, Mrs. Beety. After arriving at Garensburg they again went their separate ways. Flip found an underground doctor that calls himself Billbobby who can heal revenants. Hera and Salt conducted their own research. Eventually they found themselves at another bar, interrogating a Brass Guild recruit. Hera got the kid to talk, but unfortunately his boss overheard. What will happen next? Find out, now.

It's episode four of Tidefall. We're here. We made it. Let's just get going.

So Ted, Monica, Chris, what's up? Still here. Still here. Yeah, we're all still here.

I'm still here. We're all still here. None of us have been impeached. Nope.

Not yet. Topical. Inquiries are open. So who knows what could happen to me in the next six months?

I don't know. So I've pulled up some idea for our interaction. Just saying. Yeah.

Let's get the impeachment vote out to our audience. Let's be honest though, if you don't have a video of Macron and Harry McCott, Canadian Prime Minister, really do you have anything going for you? They're not being catty bitches too. I laughed.

I thought it's hilarious. Oh man. See what's people been up to? What's planned for the future?

All the fun stuff? Those are some deep questions. They are. Getting real here.

Okay. Well, let's see. My plan's for the future. I mean, like your deepest, darkest fear.

I think it's just dying. I'm just really scared of dying. Any traumas. Wow.

Just throw that out there. Just in general. I like your vulnerability. I don't know.

Is that a weird thing? A lot of people are just like, I'm ready. Let's go. So I know if you're not the one that's going to jump out into the bomb.

No, that was me living out fantasy in a role-playing game. Yeah. Go figure. No, me and Flip are nothing like.

Well, we're some kind of a like, I don't know. Everyone's kind of. Everyone's got aspects of their character. There's a lot of them.

Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Things are going. Not a whole lot's changed, I guess, since the last time we played.

I actually haven't made any progress in Death Stranding since the last time we played. I've been busy with a whole bunch of other stuff. My D&D campaigns looking to wrap up here soon where you just entered the last dungeon. That's been pretty wild.

Have a good time with that. Cool. Yeah. So that's me.

Oh, you know, an impeachment's gone on. Yeah. Yeah. Good.

Let's we forget. Yeah. Good old constitutional crisis. Ooh.

You're here. Yeah. Let's see. I don't even remember what game I was playing last because I started playing Disco Elysium.

Oh, hell yeah. Oh my God. That's all my list of games. I want to tell everybody about this deeply personal engaging experience that I'm having, but I can't because it's very weird in the most amazing game I've ever played in my entire life.

So highly recommend. Couldn't explain what it's about to anyone, but it's phenomenal. So I've been doing a lot of that and like sitting up at three in the morning just contemplating my existence in Greg. So it's so good.

And then I am doing costumes for a show with Theatarmine West, and that is preparing the first weekend of January. So I think that'll be passed when this episode posts, but my weekend will be spent doing a lot of sewing for one particular costume. So definitely not behind on that. Very in control.

Very dedicated and focused. And that's definitely not gonna go badly. Don't worry. Not too many of them from the other mid-west when you hear this.

No, nobody in this household, like I'm sure. It's yeah, it's very, very unlikely that anyone will hear that. So yeah. Oh wow.

Disco Elysium isn't even a 60-dollar game either. I bought it for there was a steam sale and I bought it for like 32 or something about that. I don't know. But it was I rarely buy new games because I'm cheap, but it was one that I like read half of the summary and I'm like, well, yeah, I'm buying that immediately, which was a bummer because it turns out like my husband had a whole bunch of like steam cash that he didn't even tell me about.

So he's like, well, whatever, but for the next thing. But no, it's truly phenomenal. A lot of times I was just like, why is my brain on this TV screen? I'm very uncomfortable with that, but it's so good.

Other than that, yeah, just theater and work stuff. I bought a new planer. Some really exciting stuff. Okay.

Organization is exciting. Oh, yeah. Very an instant new pens from the fancy pen store. I didn't know that was a thing.

Oh my god. That was such a thing. The fancy pen store or F. Yes.

No, I thought there's a found pen store. The F. Yes. In Des Moines.

And it is amazing. And the woman knows me. So that's my claim to fame. So I bought it from the fountain pen and a planer.

So I'm definitely ready for January as a not nerd likes organization, fancy Japanese paper. I think for me, I'm taking the deep end dive into directing this last week was auditions and callbacks. And as of yesterday, we posted a cash list for the production in Eurydice by Sarah Rool. So by the time this episode airs, it will be on our fourth week of rehearsal, I think.

And we don't have much time. We're going to blink it. It's going to be March and I just know it. So my assistant director, she's head over heels excited.

I'm a nervous wreck, but I will be until show close. Yeah. Just how it goes. Do you have a favorite cast member?

Yeah, picture favorite. And make sure that they've listened to this. Make sure everybody else listens to it too. That's what's great because I can sing a lot just about all of them to make it a joke.

Boo, cop out. I mean, she caught me. I don't have a favorite yet because we haven't done rehearsals. I'm not sure about some of the personalities of some of them.

Make sure they really earn your approval. Make sure they know what the competition. That's great for the rehearsal process. Give out points that notes.

Good. I will keep all of this all this in mind. I mean, I did make them sit through a four hour callback session. Oh, God.

I'm thorough. So, woof. It was rough. Yeah.

But had to be done. All right. I'll take your word for it. I finished just raining.

That's pretty much my life. I was up till three in the morning on a work night watching cutscenes and I hated myself the next day, but I finished it and I'm glad of that. I sold again. Like you said last time.

Don't know if you enjoyed it. I enjoyed it, but it was it was weird. I can't say much more than that without smiling. It's a very satisfying game.

Very co-jama. It's very there. There are definitely some moments like only a co-jama game would do this. Yes.

And it's also the most satisfying game of every play in my life. Wow. Like not. And when I say it's more like when you finish making a road or when you make a delivery and you take a nap and you haven't been in your bed for hours.

I don't know something about it. Just you feel content. Yes. It's that noise so many times in that game.

No, I totally feel that there is this one moment. It's very early in the game. That's all I've got really experience with where like you're going through this area to I think to like a wind farm or something and you have to go through like this valley of like their ghosts like the BTS. Yeah.

And you finally like it took me forever because I left one of my packages back on top of the mountain and I had to go back up back through the ghosts, pick it up, come back down, go back through the ghost. So I did three times before I finally managed to drop it off. And that area sucks too. So it sucks.

It was just this moment after it was done where I turned around and everything was like connected to like the network now. So all of like the other players like creations and their little P mushrooms all show up and it was just like this moment where I was just like, what the hell are you talking about? You can you can you can pee anywhere in the world and then it grows a mushroom and then eventually if enough times people pee there it starts growing where these little bugs fly around and then you can eat those bugs and those bugs will heal you. So what you're saying is salt is a natural healer.

So I was quite was just this really like cathartic moment. I was connected with the rest of the players in the world and it was just like really heartwarming and I was just like I earned this. Yeah, this is cool. Yeah.

But then it gets really weird. I mean, yeah, it's it's good. So interesting fact was we're going to keep doing that. We go around and sort of talk about stuff about tidefall in the world in the universe or our characters, etc.

So I want to tell people about the first Revenant. So Revenants, they did not exist prior to the destruction of the world. And when the first Revenant is sort of up in the air, but you know, what is the rumors are is there was this this old worlder. And the best way to describe it is it's almost like a combination of the Iceman and Frankenstein where they found someone that was on the planet, not up in the sky, but they found someone on the planet that was fairly well preserved.

And then they, the scientist brought him on board and essentially Frankenstein, then they put a bunch of parts and cogwheels and all sorts of stuff together. And eventually she woke up without any knowledge of the world. She, you know, was kind of beastial because she was on this floating ship and she was on an island and she didn't know what was going on and no one could tell her. She eventually, you know, hurt and killed her master.

It's very much this weird thing. But because of that, that sort of started all the rumors about, you know, the first one killed its Matt, you know, with Erykos master really is the person who brought them back to life. But then, you know, caused a bunch of problems on the ship she was at. And then that started the rumor and that was probably 10, 15 years ago.

So that's when you know, Rev. Then, no one knew what they were, they just saw this weird looking kind of undead kind of robot girl didn't really know what to make of her. Now, that's what sort of started some of the, you know, the prejudice against Rev. And it is sometimes they're just considered these beasts.

Obviously, as we've seen, they're not that way, but you know, they that's kind of weird all started. So yeah, that's on lower instinct. Yeah. So yeah, that's the first battle juice and a dog charge with a wrench.

Yeah, very beast yield peril child. Kind of like keying off of some of the Revenant talks. I think I wanted to talk about since we didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with it flips time with, with Bill Bobby, the doctor, the Revenant doctor, Bill Bobby. So initially, it was a lot of fun playing as flip because neither of us knew how Revenants worked.

Yeah. So my ignorance was genuine. But now flips spent some time with with a doctor of Revenants and learned about like the mechanics and how all of that stuff works. So we had to make some decisions as a team here on how all that stuff functions.

So now I know like all about like flips anatomy and stuff. So like, the way they combine the process has matured a bit, I think with the initial Revenant, maybe it was just like jamming tubes and pliers in there to get it to work. Was very frank and sunny. Right.

It's been refined a little bit. At least it wasn't flips case. Everything's very sleek and well put together, like to make sure that things are interacting well and not infecting one another. All of the internal organs that they actually use, they put in these porous metal, porous like plastic sacks.

Nice. That I guess not porous, these these plastic sacks and they have like these metal like faucets or something, the little connectors where they can connect like the organs that need to share stuff together. So like the lungs are off in their own little place and they've got like a connector to the heart, which is in this big old like metal casing and very well protected. And most of like the capillaries and veins and all that stuff are like these little tiny, sometimes in microns, like these very small plastic tubing that routes to all the things that the oxygen in the body in their own little sacks.

Nice. But then obviously wouldn't go to everything because if it's, you know, if there's a part that's on a present metal, you know, it's wasted effort. So it's very efficient. Yes, a very efficient is a very good way to put it.

Yes. Cool. Cool. Cool.

So I'm going to switch gears a little bit and talk about the government and political situation of kind of the various connected individual city, state, ships, I think they agreed on the term vessels. Yep, vessels. Each ship or vessel with a population of over 1000 individuals of voting age, which is 16, gets one representative in this kind of collective conference of representatives for each vessel. So you can have ships with as small as maybe one or two representatives or you can go up to dozens and dozens of them.

There's these kind of mega ships that exist as well. And there's a biannual conference where all of them get together and propose legislation. And so there are a lot of local politics involved kind of interplay between various factions and kind of a big sticking point. And kind of the local political scene is figuring out, you know, who counts as a person and kind of playing with who's eligible and who's not versus versus like, you know, what factions doing some gerrymandering possibly.

Yeah, one, especially with, you know, the cultists or the pirates, which, you know, they can themselves not to be cultists, but they are citizens that live on various ships. And yeah, they definitely have a part where, you know, they will either find the politicians or they will themselves grow up and help push things that would assist in whatever would benefit them. Yep, each faction, you know, kind of has an agenda. They've got different people kind of working things in their favor and proposing legislation in their favor.

Each kind of term of service is one year, but there's no limit on terms of service. So if you get a really solidly embedded group that's really kind of got their stuff together and has their candidate, they've potentially got a lot of built in power. So yeah, lots of lots of political stuff happening behind the scenes, I think. Cool.

All right. I think I'm going to also change to another gear. I think I mentioned how Salt was a freelance explorer to try to figure out exactly what's down below. I don't remember if I mentioned the organization, it's called the Freelance Explorer board.

And this is always where anybody could pick up work that was able to operate outside of the guidelines laid down with the government. So one of the things that you always run into, because a lot of the climate that you're hitting are very mountainous. So in order to survive out there, it's usually teams of four, any more than that, they're afraid of attracting the attention of pirates or any other enaired wells that might still be out there. You didn't bring too much in the way of rations, you had to survive on, if anything, the fish because the water was right there or any animal life after you've documented it, if you find that there's plenty, you can go out to meet, how to build a fire, how to gauge yourself shelter, tent or otherwise.

So yeah. Cool. Awesome. I'm curious about when we will sort of see some of those world stuff.

We haven't even the ships that are vessels so far, but at some point I'm sure we're going to go to the mountain islands of the world. So document those endangered species and even then eat them and not getting by them. Right. That's another work base.

So cool. We will be right back. We have our narrator intro some of the show and then we will start up so far. See you soon, folks.

See ya. Last time on TIEFALL, the adventurers we stuck in and explosive situation. Flip, jumped onto the bomb to get others out safely, after assault fired at Halo bullets and hair up into a good bits of glue group of folks that escaped, dragging the unconscious flip to safety, stacking the giant gun, they headed to the box to find a transporchia, which would get them out of the sea. If you were riding to Guarrensburg, they found a brass-scale recruit to interrogate that, of course, another bar.

Hair got the kid to talk, but unfortunately, his box had burned. What will happen next? Find out now on TIEFALL. Our heroes are at this bar and Harrow wasn't interrogating this kid called...

We're always at a bar. You're always at a... You're always at a perpetual... It's, you know, adventurers are always at bars.

You were interrogating Joe, this recruit kid, and then this big tough guy comes up and sort of like puts his arms on you and Joe, ask what's going on right after Joe, sort of spilled the beans on, you know, the name of the ship you guys are looking for. So first off to the group is at the beginning of every session, if you want to get out of the situation you're in, you could spend the story points. I think we're kind of good now, but I want to verify that you guys are... I think we could weasel away from the somehow.

I'm really worried about Joe, so I think we should spend all of our points to save Joe. To save the enemy pirate that is... He's innocent. Uh-huh, sure.

I mean, innocent with real bigger wooks. Like me. I mean, yeah, like you. I think Joe is gonna have to get himself out of this one.

I think he's got bootstraps. He'll be fine. He'll be fine. Hey, it worked for me.

Okay, so yeah, this guy comes up, puts his hands on his shoulders, and asks, you know, what's going on here? And he looks at Joe, and then looks at Hera. What he has to do? So you definitely saw this.

You were down a couple of seats down the bar. You saw this guy approaching. Flip probably just barely saw it because you kind of just came into the bar. Yeah, I see this guy moving.

I don't see where he's going or who he's talking to. I haven't got eyes on Hera or Salt yet. Okay. And he definitely is just focused on me and not.

He doesn't notice that. Yeah, it's you Joe. Joe telling you something you shouldn't have said and like, you know, put arm on his shoulder like squeeze a little bit too hard like, hey, what's going on here? Because you're still on bar.

He doesn't want to start a giant bar fight with guns and stuff. But you know, he's presumably not in his bar. Whoever. So yeah, he's trying to intimidate you guys.

So what happens? So I think, as Salty's this guy, he's on her up. You know, he's on edge. The code is pulled back.

He's unclipped the roto pistol. But he hears because now he's on any hears the like, you know, the saloon doors open if you will. And he looks over and he sees Flip. And the first thing he kind of mouths him.

Don't you dare. And he goes back to watching Hera, but his hand is ready to draw. His roto pistol in case he has to. Flip comes in and flops with me.

I just want to hear the like the clicking of the metal legs coming in the ground. Yeah. So like the first thing to call out, like you guys have seen Flip his skin's always been a little loose and not great. He's always looked a little messed up, but he comes in and his skin looks perfect.

Yeah, immaculate. He's wearing like this, like loose, like tank top over like just some like regular pants on jeans. Let's do jeans. I like jeans.

And so he looks good. You know, and he sees, he sees salt and salt tells him like, don't don't go salt if I has to go. Wait, wait, wait, wait, you. Yeah.

And he kind of just glances over and sees like the kind of building situation and he just walks over to like a booth or a table and just sits down. Okay. And I think Hera kind of totally calm, very cool. She kind of tries to glance over at salt and get his attention and make some sort of like subtle gesture or like I feeling psychic projections.

You say some stuff with your eyes. Don't don't worry about it. And she's just playing it cool. Yeah.

So she just kind of turns over and kind of makes it, you know, perfectly pleasant, like chatting face at our friend, who's Joe's boss, I assume, and just kind of goes like, Oh, well, well, how are you doing today? So I'm just kind of talking to your lovely young man here about some some local curiosities. I'm just trying to figure out, you know, I'm a tourist, you know, so just, you know, trying to catch the sights and things like that. Just, you know, Joe's been very, very helpful.

He's such a sweet young man and just kind of goes on, not a little bit about, you know, nothing, just a disarmament. Yeah, roll me a deceive check, because you're definitely getting more information than just that. One of these days, it'll be a coercion just nothing. Yeah.

Eventually, she'll roll a coercion. You know, every time I add something, it's not the thing that I need. So that's reminding me of the dice again. Okay.

So what is your ranks and presents or what's your skill and presence? I'm doing a three presents, no deception. Notice that. Okay.

So it's gonna be three green dice. Can I call it one charm? I'll let you, yeah, I'll let you charm. Yeah, I'll let you throw on a rank of charm.

So make it two green and one yellow. Okay. And then it's gonna be three purple. I think there's only two over there.

Isn't it purple? All right. So that dings right to your final turn. All right.

So we have one, two, three success. There were one failure, three disadvantage. Nope. Am I counting that right?

Somebody else double counting? The crosshairs of the disadvantage. Yeah. Yeah.

So three disadvantage and one advantage. So you succeed with two successes, but with two disadvantages. So two successes, two disadvantage. So the success is you're trying to disarm this guy and the disadvantage.

Let's see. Let's say you, so that you've sort of persuaded this guy that you are, you're not up to anything quite fishy. He's gonna need a bonus die in his next check because he can tell he believes you, but he's got this like suspicion about you that you guys are just talking about something that is very much not something to be talked about. And then you're like, oh no, it's nothing.

It's fine. So he's got his own use. He's taken a bonus die to use on whatever next check that he does. And so it looks down and says, and he's saying it to you, but really he's saying this to Joe.

So Joe, you were just talking about the local stuff to do, not nothing, no secrets, no. And Joe is like really freaked out and he's like his palms are sweating, he's like rubbing them together like, because he knows he messed up and he's pretty sure that his balls overheard. And he's kind of freaking out. Do you intervene at all?

Oh yeah. I think Cara just tries to kind of reish it, kind of take the attention back onto her. Because he's like, so sorry. So before Joe can like actually talk and like get himself into more trouble, she just kind of continues on about like, oh, well, actually my friend, I'm meeting a friend here.

Her name is, and she kind of makes up a name really, Deirdre, Deirdre Beatty. So we've been longtime friends and really, I'm here to surprise her. And she just kind of goes on and on about all of the fun, exciting things she's going to do with Deirdre and how she was just looking for some recommendations of fun things. She could surprise her good friend Deirdre who when she was three, and Deirdre was five, you know, and makes a whole bunch of stories about why their best friends ever.

Okay. He's going to try to discern that check basically. So he's got three, what is your presence again? Three.

Three. Okay. Can you similar to those purple lights? So I have a thing.

Okay. That's what I would like to do is I would like to come up as a representative for Deirdre to add credence to the story and use clever retort to add to disadvantage to this role. Okay. So I guess first off, what is the thing that you say to like?

Okay. Oh, Hera, yes. I am here on behalf of Deirdre Beatty. And she is quite excited to meet you.

Oh, where are my manners? My name is my name is Paige the page down the bar. He just here salt set to cough on his drink. So yeah, this guy looks down to this kid that's, you know, like you look what 1213 still, right?

Okay. So you didn't age up at all with this person. You just were much cleaner now. Yeah, like I've got new skin and stuff.

It's great. Okay, cool. So that adds, is it too nice? Or is it just too straight to disadvantage?

I believe it's too disadvantage. Okay. So he's rolling three greens, three purples for his scale and yours, going to the one blue for his thing. We'll add in the disadvantage from the retort.

Yes. So that is two successes, two failures. So those are no out. We have three advantage.

And then from you to disadvantage, no that out. So it's a overall failure, one advantage. So and Hera kind of interrupts that by surprise, I meant I already surprised her and that clearly was an intentional thing that I forgot to mention. You think you can just roll into Garensburg and dear drill and find out of very convincing.

It worked. I mean, yeah. So he does like a really big bow, like halfway over his head touches the ground to Hera, everyone to everyone. Okay.

So he spins while he does it. Just like a pirouette. Yeah. So he looks to, you know, the kid, he looks to Hera, he looks to this other guy in the bar, and he just like shakes his head.

He's like, Joe, let's get out of here. I need to, and he just, he grabs him out the shoulder just like pulls and like they go to leave the bar. He, you know, it was one of the tables and like hits it twice to like get the two guys there to follow. And then the four of them leave the bar.

Hera immediately is like, good going page the page. That was really fucking like, well done. Dear God. Okay.

I, and she just kind of size and rubs her eyes. Thank you for helping. I guess, but God damn it, in the future, ask me first, please. Well, they're arguing.

Salt has kind of not julently walked behind them to try to see what way down the street they're going. I think once they get out in the street, they head off to the left, wherever that is. And it goes back like, well, uh, that was a nice idea there flip. Thank you.

Good. That's the bow again. Good. We're supposed to call him page now, I think.

Oh, page flip. No, I don't like that name. I like flip better. Page flip.

No, don't. Not that. Yeah. I think I like page actually better.

So I'm going to go with page. Guys, it's not funny. You know what, you know what a page does, right? That means you have to do whatever I tell you for the rest of eternity.

It's called a lie, Hera. Maybe try it. Go get my bag's page. I missed you guys.

You're looking all shiny and new. There for the most time. The doctor check this out and he like sticks his hand under like the skin on his like wrist and pulls it off to like show like a metal exoskeleton. Harley, hair like gags into like off to the side like God.

Yeah, they just had to like get rid of the whole thing. It's all metal in here now. Put that the hell away. He puts it back on like a flush glove.

Nice. It's dry. It like squishes on. Yep.

Did you try punching anybody with it? Not yet. Keep that in mind. Okay.

No reason. All right. So let's go find someone with a punch. No, let's not do that.

Salt. What did you come up with since we talked last? So I went to the library, found a weather student. Try to beat some information.

I haven't considered any hair. Very one to punch without me. We'll find more. I'm almost guaranteed.

You had to pick a weather student. You couldn't pick somebody like it was like actually survive a punch. He did fine. I cleaned him up afterward.

I guess I felt kind of bad. But uh and so rummages around in his pockets like this is what I found. I can't make heads or tails of it. What do you think, Ariel?

And so on the notes is a bunch of essentially it's something I already knew is it was factory codes. But it's telling you basically where it's from when it was created and then also where it's going. And the big question was where is where it's going? Because you knew that's what the numbers were.

We weren't sure exactly where. So now that you've got that other piece of information, I was assuming her would realize, oh, they're going to the tortoise. Right. And so she kind of pulls the notes really quickly and starts scanning them and kind of turns away from Salt and Paige the page for a second while she kind of mutters to herself and goes through her notes and kind of scans to see if she does see any names that she recognized.

And then eventually she kind of circles one really big and she's like got it. The tortoise. Is the bar empty right now? No.

It is it's not very full. It's you know mid-afternoon. So people are drinking, but it's not it's not boss only, but it's also not empty. Okay.

Cool. Sure. All of the pirates have left. So you can discuss this stuff mostly freely.

Sure. Now it may still be some around. About our theater troupe. We're writing a play.

Good. Tortoise and the page. Oh, yeah. Good.

But so she circles the kind of connective name and she kind of turns over to to Salt and says, okay, between the two I've got a name and so a ship I think, but we're looking for the tortoise. That's the only connection I have to list the the foreman at the factory. Do we know where that ship falls faction-wise with government? Is it a brass-gill chip or we don't find that out?

I don't think we found that out. You do know that Joe works either. So we're assuming brass-gill. Either they work on it or he uses it here and there.

So either it's a related to or it is a brass-gill chip. So yeah, at this point, we're assuming brass-gilled, but we don't know anything other than I mean, it could be brass-gilled operating off a contract. It could be something else. The only thing we know is that, you know, we're connecting the two kind of however tenuously, but we've got some brass-gill connection.

We track this ship down. Well, I think that sounds like a solid next step. Considering, you know, unless Paige has anything to offer. Does he want to, you know, maybe do some more bowing badly?

We've assigned someone to punch. Yeah, whatever. Okay, come on. Let's get out of here.

You know, I think as a hair leads and sounds like, do you think you could put like, you know, like really long nails on that thing and you could like climb up walls with the metal hands now? I've never really been a fingernail guy. That's fair. Why would you want like, and here is like pushing the door open and she's like, why would you want to be even more of a freak?

Yeah, cut it right down there. Right to the quick. You know, spider hands. You could have normal hands.

How about that? Think of the cool shit you could do. Think of the not attention you could grab from everyone around you. You know, let's just, let's just go.

He like pushes past them both to go walking into the street. Okay. So where is next steps? Is it to go back to the port and try to find a way to this other ship?

I think we're looking for a port. I think first steps, you know, maybe we can just, I mean, hey, where's Casey and Ariel? We walk up and down like the docks and see if there's any matching chips. Find another noodle hunt.

Hey, they're selling it. We're. Yeah. I think flip wants to start with somebody who's like taking chips in who might have like a Harbormaster or a Harbormaster and just talk to them and see if they can give that information.

Okay. Well, do we know where the port is? I saw those four guys head to the left, but yeah, you guys came from the border, originally. That's like a weird start.

All right. Yeah. You know, yeah. Well, I mean, you beat up so many weather people.

Weather students even. He's a weather student. He's a weather student. Not that he's still got the forecast wrong.

Well, I mean, that's why he's a student. I don't think they become whether people until they've achieved personhood and accurately forecast. I forecast a lot of weather. The gladiator pits with you.

A lot of weather people that lost their weather personhood from incorrect forecast. Yeah. So let's make it to the let's go to the port gang. All right.

Okay. So you guys find your way to the ports and it sounds like flip is going to be talking to a Harbormaster. That's what we called him. Okay.

So you eventually, yeah, you find this, you know, he's got a very steam. It's got a hat with gears on it. Master of vessels. Yeah.

Yeah. He's got a hat with gears and on the like the building for the Harbormaster, it's got a big anchor, but it's got like gears running on the top of it because it's not going to mine. It's, you know, yeah. So steam funk.

So you find your way there and he's inside the building. So you knock on it. He has you come in. Oh, hello.

So no, what to do for you? I want to learn more about vessels. Hera starts laughing and like. Is it going with him?

Yeah, I think we're both behind him. Yeah. Well, you're the boy. Can't turn him down.

It's my birthday. Oh, it's your birthday. We'll have a birthday birthday young man. So sure is he has a fascination with these vessels and where better to teach him.

So, so, so vessels in case you hadn't been out in Swarth the world, those are the larger ships, the, the, like the cities where people live. Oh, so what do you want to know about vessels? Because this is a smaller vessel. It's just a.

Well, I'm a big fan of the old world and vessels. So I like vessels that are named after old world animals. I think I know, I think we know you're going with this. Do you, do you know any?

I'd like to look at them. I don't know. There's definitely been some that's coming through. I'll need to go through my records and you'll need to roll me a check to see how convincing you're going to be.

You're going to get advantage on this because you're, you know, pretty convinced with this. He could be nice. Cool. Is it a charm check?

Oh, yeah. It'll be a charm. Give me two gettos and wane to keep it. It'll be a two purple check.

Okay. And then three self a blue because you're being nice and cute. Okay, cool. So that's three failures, one success, one critical success or a triumph against and then three advantage.

Okay. So I don't know how that all. So you've got three advantage overall. You've got three failures and effectively two successes because of the triumph also counts as a success.

Okay. So it is a failure. But you've got triumph and three advantage. So first off, he doesn't give you exactly what you want, but there's something else that's important because the advantage, three advantage is going to mount and then the triumph is like something big.

So what does that look like first? Oh, man, gang help out. I don't know. What else?

What other kinds of things would like help here? Like maybe, maybe not like the ship itself, but maybe like, I think it goes off on a tangent of like, Oh, well, that's I can't obviously give you the full, you know, the names of any specific shifts that you know, I have, you know, security issues, of course, you understand. But let me tell you about all of these other ships and I will name every single one. And how would you like a tour, young man?

Yeah. And I think he sort of like lists out various ships that are not specifics and they're not even all ships. It's more like he changes the tortoise to the turtle and things like that, where he kind of shifts it so we can talk about his like parallel to the truth, but not exactly just telling everything to flip. But and then yeah, he's like, you know, let me show you the, you know, some of the ships and he sort of like guides you along.

Do one of you follow with him? Because he, you know, I put my hand on Flips Shoulder and I kind of say, my nephew, he's very, he's very special. You see, we're very proud of him and excited for his eventual career in ship, politicking. I don't know.

Ship really bad. She kind of stops caring at the end and she just pat some real hard on the shoulder. I'm gonna be a helmsman. Oh, you're gonna be a helmsman.

That's important job as the two of them sort of walk off down the like alleyway, you know, he's been effectively disarmed by flip. My door will be like a first, I think. I don't like good stuff this episode. So the two of you are left in this office alone.

Okay, dumb. Yeah, you used a child's, you know, cuteness to disarm an adult. So immediately after the door closes, I think Hera like leaps over the counter and kind of like peeks her head out the door to make sure that they're not looking. Well, probably he's walking down and like pointing to various ships.

Like that ship is the yeah. So here immediately assumes like watching to make sure that they're not being walked in on. Okay, so I just got the door covered. Solch has defined files, ship logs, anything that might have the word tortoise on it.

Okay, cool. Roll me a either investigation or knowledge. Or if you have another CLD think would make more sense. Roll that.

Could I convince you in skull Dougry skull Dougry? I am digging through something I should be. Yeah, I'll let you roll up because again, you've done this in the past, you're you're you're trying to quickly disseminate information and you're essentially stealing said information. I'll use that.

Okay. I see I don't check it out first rank and yeah, I got one rank in that one rank and then what is your I think it's based on willpower? Oh, powers two. So you're gonna have one yellow, one green, it's gonna be a two purple check.

Okay. And then because you've got more time because basically you know you've got time because she will give you heads up. I'll let you throw up blue from her because she's helping you by giving you time. What I'm gonna do just for fun is I'm gonna spend my one story point and upgrade one of those purples into a red.

I think I'm gonna spend my story point and turn that green into a yellow thing fun. Yep. Up the ante. Up the ante.

All right, I've got three disadvantage, two successes and one disadvantage. So or one advantage. Sorry. So we have a net of two successes and then two disadvantage.

So I think you take two points of stress as you're like you realize if you don't get this information, you're up shit creek basically. So that's gonna give you like that's gonna stress you out but you do eventually find a listing that says like the tortoise last left or last ship to go out to it was and it essentially lists out the tortoise has never been here. It must be a vessel, not a ship essentially. Right.

Vessel being the city's ships being the transport's going to me. So the vessel so it does not come here because it's a vessel but ships go come go to and from it here and there and what you found is there's a ship on on station that got here three or four days ago that came from the tortoise. Oh, can I get a name of that ship? That ship is called the the the and you're going through it and it's it's a weird name but it's it's called the the Blender grass Blender grass.

Yeah, I got some is that two words or one word? It's one long word got you. Thank you. Perfect.

You have a name and preferably you know a mooring three ducks down that we can just go and grab it and be done. Well, there's a ship called the Blender grass that evidently had come from the vessel tortoise tortoise isn't a ship. Shit, that would make sense. Yeah.

Okay, so when what are they carrying? Do you know to do find that? Can we maybe sneak on or is it a passenger the Blender grass? Could we let me look again?

See if I can find it. By passage or you know, the Blender grass is a it's a private transport vessel. It carries it's a ship that can be manned by each other people and then it can carry between five and two passengers. Perfect.

That. Yes, great. And it came in three days ago. Once as far as I can tell, it looks like it's still moored here.

Perfect. And if you've got a location, let's see looks like docking station six and then Hera kind of like checks out the door one more time. I think at this point, they're starting to walk back. Yeah, yeah.

Okay, so then she like grabs Salton like helps him kind of put everything back in order and then he drags him around the counter to sit down in like the little waiting area just waiting totally non suspiciously for our darling little little nephew to come back. No, no, no, it's completely hypothetical. It's just like if I were one of those revenue things, would you be as nice to me? And he's looking down, he's like, I would always be kind to a child.

What's what kind of question is and that I think is when they arrive to the like he's got like a cupcake, the man bottom cupcake. Oh, God. How is it? You keep going to people on a baked goods?

It's my birthday. It's my birthday. And then she says, oh, how lovely. Did you have a nice time, sweetie?
