As the importance of Africa grows, global interest in the continent is also steadily increasing. The European Union outlined the basis for a new strategy with Africa in the spring, while Finland is currently putting the finishing touches on a related strategic plan of its own. Why is Africa such a hot topic right now? What are the key developments when a continent and its countries are seeking wellbeing, equality and new beginnings?
