Tigers in Free Fall as August Ends | Detroit Tigers News

The Detroit Tigers are in freefall, losing 13 of their last 16 games as their offense sputters and wild card hopes fade with just 25 games left. A brutal Monday night against the Twins saw a dominant pitcher shutting down Detroit’s bats while the Tigers’ own starter surrendered multiple homers and the bullpen couldn’t contain the damage. Young players are stepping up, but one home run wasn’t enough to offset a crushing Twins rally fueled by early swings and key mistakes. With another showdown against Minnesota looming, the Tigers need a breakout performance from their next starter to claw back into contention.
