Tigers Move, Rogers DFA'd, Báez Back | Detroit Tigers News

The Detroit Tigers just pulled off a wild 14-0 win over the Orioles — but hours before, they DFA’d veteran catcher Jake Rogers, a beloved mentor to stars like Skubal and Dingler. The move stung the clubhouse, especially since Rogers was a close friend to Spencer Torkelson. Yet it opened the door for Javier Báez’s return, bringing energy the team desperately needed after a rough May. With James Outman adding versatility in center field and Eduardo Valencia crushing homers, the Tigers seem to be clicking again. Financially, cutting Rogers (who made $3M) helps them stay under the luxury tax — crucial if they want to keep Skubal or snag a compensatory pick. All eyes now turn to Skubal’s next start, where he’s aiming for a personal milestone. Four games remain before the deadline — and the drama’s far from over.
