Tigers Struggle as Rainey Sent Down | Detroit Tigers News

Detroit’s season is in freefall as they face the Twins in a brutal three-game series, already down 2-0 after being crushed 26-3. With their record sinking and playoff hopes fading, the Tigers shipped out veteran pitcher Tanner Rainey to Triple-A Toledo — a move that underscores their mounting struggles. Rainey, a nine-year pro with a career ERA of 5.46, hasn’t been effective since joining Detroit, and now finds himself on the outside looking in as the team fights to claw back from a 10-game deficit in the AL Central. Tonight’s game could be their last chance to turn things around — or confirm they’re headed for another disappointing year.
