Time

from Floating plushie

You won't know what time is like, what the passage of time is like until you kiss its cheek. A kiss on the cheek of time is not the same for everyone. Every person remembers it differently and may even add shades of gentle lies, or tone down misconceptions. Their own, or others'. You might see it come down to a self-induced memory of a cheek that grows old, but goes back a long way to the plump, rosy version, people may or may not remember, they may or may not know after they have forgotten all its full-bloom roundness of its now more crinkled, wrinkled everything, already edgy, crispy, dry and unattractive. Nevertheless, some refuse to kiss it or hold on to the phantom of a non-existing memory. They would rather believe time only exists now and that it doesn't have a face, let alone a cheek, so that time doesn't have to save it. To save its face. Yet, its cheek is there for everyone to see in their own time. A different kind of time, subjective and unaffected by the cruel passage of too objective time. A cheek in time, a time's cheek: a kiss on it will clarify, all is not an illusion, and, yet, it is your heart. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Trice Forgotten Rusty Quill Ltd Alestes likes to keep her head down while she works as a merchant, couriering deliveries and carrying travelers to destinations across the seas. Only as her travelers gradually become permanent crewmates, she realises her ship has become a floating museum, laboratory, vault of repatriated ‘treasures’, and a chef’s kitchen. After spending most of her life with the understanding that nothing changes, no matter how hard you fight, Alestes is faced with a choice: Will she use her new network of allies to build safe harbour and potentially a future for her new community, or will she once again put her head down and drown in her sea of excuses… Hosted on Acast. History of Our Own Times From the Accession of Queen Victoria to the General Election of 1880, Volume II by Justin McCarthy Loyal Books Volume II of this popular history opens in the revolutionary year, 1848, with the Chartist movement for manhood suffrage and with the rise of Young Ireland. Next we join the crowds in 1851 at the opening of the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park, of which Queen Victoria wrote, ''A little rain fell just as we started, but before we came near the Crystal Palace the sun shone and gleamed upon the gigantic edifice, upon which the flags of all nations were floating.'' Hopes for a new era of peace expired in the freezing trenches before Sebastopol, where not even the heroics of the Light Brigade could distract the British public for long from the debacle of failed leadership and the criminal collapse of logistics. Cruise of the Falcon - A Voyage to South America in a 30-Ton Yacht by Edward Frederick Knight Loyal Books In this fine sailing and exploring yarn, Edward Frederick Knight , sometime English barrister, journalist, sportsman, and amateur seaman, conspires over a fish dinner in Harwich to buy and refit the tiny yacht Falcon, recruit a crew of four , and sail across the Atlantic Ocean to South America. This they do, despite naysayers who advised painting the yacht's name conspicuously on her keel to aid identification when found floating upside down in some foreign sea.The book provides detailed descriptions of sailing in difficult waters and powerful storms, the spectacular scenery of Bahia and Rio de Janeiro, sport hunting in unspoiled jungles, frequent revolutions and, perhaps most important, the customs of the many different peoples who inhabit the South American continent. As was common practice in his day, Knight assumes the superiority of the “white” races and is not hesitant to express his sometimes less-than-favorable impressions of the “lesser” races he encounters. But he offers hi
