Time and Love

A song by Steve Zeitlin and Amanda Dargan, performed by THE JUMBLES. Thanks to bootmaker Joseph Patrickus Jr. and folklorist Lisa Higgins for the image of the "basket list." Time and Love The time that’s left A bluebird’s song The heart that’s broken The love gone wrong The dollar spent The lessons learned Things forgotten A page unturned Once it was all about bodies singing Now it’s the song of the mourning dove Once it was all about youth and beauty Now it’s time and love Youth and beauty, time and love The time it came Before it went Hope I was right 51 percent There’s never time It ticks away A broken clock’s Right twice a day Now it’s all a new accounting Crossing things off a bucket list Mine is more a porous basket Through which so many dreams have slipped Once it was all about bodies singing Now it’s the song of the mourning dove Once it was all about youth and beauty Now it’s time and love Youth and beauty, time and love Your lover’s gone On the midnight plane So many cars On the funeral train The road ahead It’s rough and rugged Hope I was loved Sometimes beloved Once it was all about bodies singing Now it’s the song of the mourning dove Once it was all about youth and beauty Now it’s time and love Youth and beauty, time and love
