Time Capsule: The Challenger Disaster Part 1
from Gen X, This is Why.
This pod covers episodes 1-2 of the 4 part series. We revisit the Challenger Disaster of 1986 through the Netflix series, Challenger: The Final Flight (2020). We meet our new obsession, June Scobee-who we want to take out for martinis. Jennie launches into a passionate defense of weathermen and there’s a lot of science Amye doesn’t understand. For reasons we can’t explain, Ralphie from A Christmas Story gets a ton of airtime, and we remember just how sexist and racist newscasters were allowed to be. Finally, we share our own memories of that day and reflect on what the loss of the space shuttle Challenger might have meant to our generation. For MORE content, become a Premium Subscriber!
