Maybe we initially chose it. Maybe we were pulled and drugged onto it. Maybe we were born into a place and have known no other life. The message of Good Friday is this: our pasts no longer gets to dictate what we do today or who we become tomorrow. Before we get to the new life, we have to bury the old one. It means leaving behind the toxic relationships and environments. It means breaking and burying our negative patterns of anger driven, fear driven, lust driven, greed driven, envy, resentment, and bitterness driven behavior. We allow God to raise us up as we learn to walk in the newness of life. I’m Horace McMillon.
