Times Square Stabbing Leaves City Shaken | Las Vegas News

A 49-year-old woman wielding two knives launched a deadly attack in Times Square, fatally stabbing a 68-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman before being shot by police. The incident, occurring near a police substation amid heavy tourist traffic, unfolded as officers attempted to disarm her — she resisted, threatened them, and even ignored a Taser. Two officers fired in self-defense, ending the confrontation. She was taken to the hospital but died at the scene. Officials note she had a documented mental health history with the NYPD, though no prior arrests. Authorities are investigating but say there’s no evidence of terrorism. This tragic event stands out against New York’s overall decline in violent crime and marks the second fatal stabbing in Times Square in recent months — underscoring safety challenges even in heavily monitored areas.
