It was even better than I could have hoped for I woke up feeling so loved and like nurtured Creatively nurtured friendship nurtured people just came in and they just had such a nice energy and Smiles and they all complimented my scent story that I had going on which was sort of like a holiday scent themed candles I had strategically placed around the house I'll say that all the women that walked in or most of them said boy it smells good in here A friend of mine came in right on the heels of someone who goes what what smells he could smell just like me well You didn't smell or notice it? Not really I don't I am in the basket the cool No, I just the holiday warmth the world that I see as a male perhaps maybe I can make this generalization is a little bit dull to compare to the crisp Vibrant world that a woman experiences for better or worse us men we see things a little duller. We don't smell quite as good We don't like see as many colors.
Mm-hmm, you know I see I understand yeah, well, I'll just say it was a roaring success and I sold lots of knitwear and it was really fun And our friends sold lots of stuff It was great if you're listening to the podcast and you also shopped from my sale. My loneliness is killing me I must confess I still believe When I'm not with you I lose my mind. Give me the sun Give me baby one more time Damn You're like you seem approving.
Oh, I was just jamming there. That was my first time Getting to experience that I knew you were working on this song. Oh, kind of how to do a mad dash today to finish it for the tiny tunes Doozy it's fantastic. I I think you know what I'm gonna say I think it could have been a lot better.
It's one of my favorite songs I've loved that song since I first heard it. Mm-hmm back in 1990 Whatever I was on tour. I was on tour. I was in Europe.
I heard it on some pop radio in Europe Somewhere, you know like Italy maybe sure and I thought it was like a euro pop star. I'm like, what is this? It seemed to fit right alongside Um dancing queen which they played all the time. It's a play everywhere worldwide hit anyway kind of reminded me of like a It reminded me of a really cool European pop song.
I figured out who it was somehow somehow somewhere because it was everywhere I thought it was a it's an American woman named Britney Spears or gal Britney. Yep. Mm-hmm So ever since then I've always had a little ear out for Britney and what she's done and what she does Yeah, and she's got a lot of pretty amazing toxic for instance. Yeah, toxic is possibly better than that song even I know I I like toxic.
Is he like silent too toxic is bad ass Well, Britney's been a Point of person of discussion Yep, I listened to her book I listened to her book while I was on tour when I went over to uh england and uh Germany and Spain In my downtime the woman in me right the woman in me by Britney Spears as read by michael williams jesus exquisite exquisite Every word of this book. I I often many times many times during listening to this this audiobook I would yeah go back 15 seconds. Maybe 30 seconds. Maybe 45.
I didn't want to miss a thing. Oh my gosh It felt real. Mm-hmm. And by halfway through that book.
I was ready to punch your dad in the face. Mm-hmm. Um, I really brought into it Um, it's one of the first audiobooks. I've ever really listened to to be honest I wonder if that's the first audiobook michael williams has done.
It's uh, she has such an incredible incredible voice and um, obviously an amazing actress and so What a gift to that book. What a ride. I knew that I wanted to talk about it. Yeah more even more than we've already been talking Yeah, we've been kind of just talking about it non-stop.
Say why not why not cover um my introduction to Britney Baby one more time and let me um, I'd like to consult my uh season two fact notebook. Yeah, your truth book, huh? My fact notebook. The name of the book was a woman in me.
Yes It's uh, if you have Spotify premium premium, it's available for free. We do so sort of free. I mean, it's not free if you pay for it Right, but it's part of the service now. And was that your first book you listened to on audio?
I mean on your own. I knew you listened to my books together, but like that's your first that you you're not I've listened to some things together. Yes, absolutely Was the first audiobook I've ever completed. There you go.
Welcome to the world of audiobooks. Yeah, um, Britney Spears was 17 years old when she recorded baby one more time. Um, She was born in 1981. Mm-hmm.
She lived in Kent, wittles, uh, Louisiana And even after she was a musketeer even after she signed to jive records She went back home to Kentwood and played on the basketball team Now with her friends and like lived kind of a normal teenage life After being in the Mickey Mouse Club with Ryan Gosling. I'm incredible christina Aguilera Justin Timberlake. They were all wow They were all like really young kid actors performers But her the difference with Britney was that she went back She lived like a kind of a smaller town life She lived more whereas the other kids were really like live showbiz and families that were um, extremely supportive and Britney had you know more of a real kind of gritty American upbringing. I say American I mean it can happen anywhere any kind of turbulent upbringing can certainly happen anywhere in the world I think Britney really she really uh if the book is to be believed and it is absolutely Most of it.
I'm sure there's different interpretations here and there but hey, it's like a movie That was the other thing the book felt like a movie. It's like, you know, you followed a character through a movie amazing You know what I mean their journey their journey. I mean where they write where they wrong doesn't matter It's like you're following this like right this this journey with somebody and feeling her story Yeah, it's her story telling her story as she feels it and it kind of goes right up to the present time and uh Which also knowing that basically this whole the book as I was reading it Sort of led up to what her instagram is and if you have an if you have a glimpse at her instagram, it's a very it's raw and it's uh, it's It's uh, it's uh, it's there's no end to the story. This the story is not over and it's a intense story And um my heart.
I just yeah, I feel for what she's been through. Oh, I can't even imagine One more note. I really want to really want to talk about this a little bit. The song was written by martin and rami I don't know these two Swedish guys.
I guess okay. Hmm. Have they written other heads? They have they wrote I want it that way Oh wait, is that in sync?
Oh, here's here's okay. And is that the band that just in timbre? Yes. Okay, okay So but uh, I never want to hear you say I want it that way.
What does that mean? I was before you even said that I was kind of cringing because I'm like, I never really understood that song What does that message mean? What does it you want that way? Baby one more time is it's very similar because it's sort of like the puzzling right it's puzzling.
It's a very awkward a lot of the phrasing is awkward Hit me baby one more time, which I take very literally meaning. I'm like whoa, that's like Heavy but it does not mean that but it is awkward and it feels like english as a second language phrasing Which it is I want it that way it feels the same way so why first heard britany But at first heard that song I was convinced it was european because of the way it was phrased It was very similar to like a lot of right a lot of and a lot of songs like that Where the phrasing is is uh, it's in english because english is sort of the you know, it's the common language of college Universal language of pop and if any band really wants to break out of their country and Facing english, it's just kind of the way it is. I assumed when I first heard maybe one more time that the awkward phrasing Indicated that it was european but it wasn't and to be clear when we say awkward. I don't mean bad.
Oh, no It's just different, you know, I love it. I love it. I mean, I just I love I love music. I love pop music.
I really like it. You're a real pop lover. I do I mean, I love you know, like uh, When it came to tenina 99's like lift balloon balloon Which was the better version the german version or the american version because she made an english version of it I I think I like the answer is the german version. Yeah, exactly I could go on a lot about this topic.
Yeah. Well, the woman and me go get it go read it listen to Michelle This week's tiny things of Tuesday tune in next week for maybe mini music monday. Maybe we'll see thank you for listening
