Austin Stanley and JT Ruhnke apply Saleh’s comments to the Titans’ first two-deep depth chart on today’s LIVE A to Z Sports Nashville morning show. Our working evaluation of Tennessee’s 42-player offensive and defensive two-deep identifies 18 players entering their third NFL season or younger and 17 established veterans. Seven additional players fall somewhere between those groups because of experience, opportunity, injuries or limited proven production. That creates an almost perfectly divided Titans roster. Is that the healthy balance Tennessee needs under Saleh and general manager Mike Borgonzi—or does the depth chart contain too many players who still must prove they belong in major NFL roles? The young group represents much of Tennessee’s potential upside. Cam Ward enters his second season as the franchise quarterback. Rookie wide receiver Carnell Tate carries enormous expectations after being selected fourth overall. JC Latham, Fernando Carmona and other young players are being trusted with important roles around Ward. The Titans also need their proven veterans to establish the team’s floor. Jeffery Simmons anchors the defense, while experienced additions and returning starters are expected to provide stability as Tennessee develops its younger core.
