Ward looked more accurate and comfortable than he did during the Titans’ preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers, but Tennessee’s starting offense still failed to score a touchdown. Ward also lost the football when Seahawks linebacker Chazz Surratt chased him down from behind on a scramble. Was Ward’s performance encouraging, efficient, underwhelming or simply incomplete? Robert Saleh discussed the rookie wide receiver after Tate went through another preseason game without producing the explosive moments Titans fans saw throughout training camp. Is Tate merely experiencing the normal ups and downs of a rookie, or has his quiet preseason become something worth monitoring? The greatest concern may be Tennessee’s defense. The Seahawks rested their starters, but Drew Lock completed 12-of-14 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. Seattle scored on its first three possessions, including a wide-open 36-yard touchdown to Elijah Arroyo and Jacardia Wright’s 69-yard touchdown run. The Titans also committed 11 penalties for 100 yards, while an illegal-contact penalty erased a Kevin Winston Jr. interception. Robert Saleh described some of Tennessee’s mistakes as “hateful plays,” and the Titans head coach made it clear that the performance was not good enough. Where should the panic meter sit for this defense as the regular season approaches? There were still plenty of legitimate Titans winners. Joey Slye connected on four field goals, including a 55-yarder. Anthony Hill Jr. and Derrick Canteen intercepted Jalen Milroe, while D’Ernest Johnson scored the game-winning touchdown as Tennessee erased a 16-3 deficit.
