Two specials (Paul Jenkins written Cobra Reborn, and GI Joe reborn the following month) launched a new continuity continued in the 14 Issues of GI Joe Reloaded. They were published in 2004 by Devil's Due in parallel to the other A Real American Hero GI Joe continuity written by Brandon Jerwa. "G.I. Joe Reloaded is a comic book series for both new and veteran fans of the G.I. Joe mythos. Starting the story from scratch, and revising the team's formation for modern times, Reloaded offers a chance to jump into the G.I. Joe world without worrying about the continuity of years past."
