TLRH | Imagining the Worst: Fiction & True Crime

Tuesday, 13 April 2021, 7 – 8pm A roundtable discussion with Eoin McNamee, Catherine Ryan Howard, & Dr. Eva Burke. This event is presented by the School of English and the Trinity Long Room Hub. What does it mean to write fiction inspired by true-life crime? How does the literary imagination engage with, and transform, real-life tragic events? Can fiction tell us things about true crime that nonfiction can’t? Is it ethical to re-imagine actual crimes for fictional purposes? What is it about particular crimes that inspires fictionalisation?
