There's a new start up called "Chance for Success" happening for Tucson which is a not for profit aimed at helping and supporting the Homeless, Marginalized and those released from Incarceration. The goal of this project is to give a 'hand up and not a hand out' and help as many citizens as possible giving back self respect, self power and the opportunity of being their own vendor earning income to improve their lives.Heather Evon My name is Heather Evon from Marion, Ohio. I was homeschooled and I graduated at the age of 12-years-old. I received an associate’s degree in Creative Writing at the age of 16. Most of my learning was self-taught due to dealing with life challenges for many years. I am a survivor that has endured many challenges in life. Many I have overcome while I am still currently starting a new path in my life to learn everything that I can about different aspects of learning even more about the nonprofit world in which I have endeavored to begin. Chance for Success, Street Newspaper is a nonprofit organization that is following in the footsteps of other street newspapers around the world. There are over 100 street newspapers around the world while there are around 30 within the United States. Chance for Success’s mission is to provide the opportunity for the homeless, marginalized, re-entry, and low-income individuals in the Tucson community with a way to create/sell the newspaper with dignity, respect, and advocacy. We provide a “Hand Up Instead of a Hand Out”. Our programs are giving aforementioned an entrepreneurial spirit to help give a voice within the community. We are currently a start-up organization that is seeking people that would like to be part of our organization because it is much needed service due to the current crisis of COVID-19. Before this crisis we were looking at providing employment to only about 1,000+ homeless, now, we have over 3,000 individuals in our community. Our organization would help provide employment to these people so that they could have an income to help with daily expenses that would help give them empowerment, provide advocacy and help with flexible hours of work.
