As 4th year med students say goodbye to med school and look ahead to the USMLE Step 3 and residency, a lot of questions come up. “How do you prepare for what’s next?”, “What is Step 3 like?” “How much time should I spend on the boards for residency?”. So, at the start of this series, we'll talk to real people in different paths of their M.D. journey and talk all about the life of and becoming a medical doctor!In the first video of Doc Talks, we talk to Jen, a 4th year medical student who is looking to take on residency in pediatrics. She asks about what to do to get ready for Step 3 and what to expect as an intern and as a medical resident.Jen and really, no med student taking the test should ever feel like they can't prepare and get too overwhelmed by the weight of the results. Remember, it's not really clear how they grade these. And the fact that she and other med students are looking to plan accordingly for their test date with enough review time, is in itself an advantage.I shared some of my med school tips on the exam from when to schedule Step 3, the amount of time needed to prepare, focusing on bio stats, and many more in this video.
