In every other state you are limited to only non-deadly force in defense of property, period—and often not even that much. There’s been nothing to prevent other states from adopting as similar deadly force in defense of personal property law as Texas—it’s just that none ever has. Now that may be changing. The Tennessee legislature is considering a statute that would allow for the use of deadly force in defense of personal property under certain circumstances.
