TN190: How small business owners can build purpose and social impact into the business model – With Ebere Akadiri

from The Time Is Now

In order to succeed in the long run, businesses should be clear about their purpose, their vision, their mission and their values. There are many important social causes in this world where businesses can make a huge impact by including them as part of their business model. Causes such as inclusion and diversity have been a major focus for many companies for decades , but I believe that we have reached a time where even small businesses can and should include social justice in their business model and the way they manage their day-to-day activities. You might say that if it is still a challenge for big corporate companies to implement real changes for inclusion and diversity, how can small business afford to do so? "You need to know what your big vision and purpose are if you want your business to last through challenges." To discuss this topic, I invited Ebere Akadiri who has extensive experience with this topic as a serial and social entrepreneur. Ebere Akadiri is an established leader and an advocate for women's leadership, diversity and inclusion. She is the founder and CEO of Rise and Lead Women – a platform dedicated to helping organizations drive the change towards building inclusive cultures that attract, retain and advance women into leadership. She mentors women entrepreneurs on how to build sustainable businesses with social impact objectives. She serves as a Board member for the BIEL (Beauty in Every Life) Foundation and is also the co-founder of Ataro Food and Spices, a West African food brand that is rapidly growing and experiencing global demand. She possesses a master’s degree in Management & Leadership from Webster University in Leiden, The Netherlands.
