In this week’s message, “To Be and Not to Be: It Isn’t a Question” from our 1 Peter series, Pastor Ruben Hernandez unpacks 1 Peter 1:13–16 and reminds us that holiness is not optional. It's a command for every believer. As chosen exiles, our identity in Christ calls us to live differently in a world that often opposes Him. Pastor Ruben highlights three key truths. 1) We are called to be obedient children who submit our desires to God’s will, even when it’s uncomfortable or doesn’t make sense. 2) We are to be holy rather than worldly, no longer shaped by the passions of our former ignorance but set apart for God. 3) We are to take this call to holiness seriously, recognizing it as a command that strengthens our witness and reflects God’s character to a watching world. These reflection questions can help us examine our hearts: Have we fully submitted to Christ’s Lordship? Does our manner of life show obedience to our Heavenly Father? Are we shaped more by the world or by Christ?
