To Believe or not to Believe: That is the Question - Mark 6:1-13

from Eastmont Church Weekly Teachings

The opening verses of Mark 6 tells us two stories that stand in stark oppositeness to one another as they dramatically illustrate the difference between what happens when you believe in Jesus and what occurs when you don't. In Mark 6:1-6, Jesus makes a return trip "home" to Nazareth where He spent the first 30 years of His life. Unfortunately, this is a super painful episode for our Lord as those who knew Him the most treated Him the worst. Consequently, they also experienced God's power the least. Then in vivid contrast, Mark 6:7-13 teaches us about 12 guys that barely knew Jesus but chose to believe in Him, stepped up to follow Him and as a result experienced God in ways they never thought possible. Like the early disciples, every single day, all of us on the journey of faith have to make a choice ... will we allow our belief in Jesus to shape us or will fear and concern cause us to doubt Jesus? To believe or not to believe, that really is the question! Now's the time to discover the reasons to choose belief.
