To Fan or Not to Fan? Turkey Reaping Pros and Cons | FRIDAY FOWL FOCAL POINTS | The GoHuntBirds.com Podcast

In this episode we touch on the sensitive topic of using a turkey fan to "reap" or "fan" a Tom turkey for the purpose of harvesting him. In recent years this topic has received lots of public press, both positive and negative on the pros and cons of using this tactic. Some feel that it should be an illegal tactic and in fact it has been banned in several US states already.  Others feel that it is a perfectly fine tactic when used with caution and rave about how much of a rush it is. To add to the discussion, we've decided to bring on two separate guests to chat about the debate.   First on is Shawn West who is a freelance outdoors writer who is definitely "not a fan" of the tactic.  Shawn gives his thoughts on why he feels it is not a good idea to reap turkeys and gives some valid points to back up his statements.  Then we talk with Sean Foster, who is not only an advocate, but is also a content creator and prostaff for Mojo Outdoors which is a company that has designed their "Scoot and Shoot" products geared towards the art of fanning.  Sean talks about how he feels it is a fun way to add more action to the hunt and speaks about his experiences fanning big, mature Toms.  Both segments are great listens and should ultimately leave the listener with more of an educated view of the debate and give valid points to help decide if it right for them.  Enjoy!! Support the show#GoHuntBirds | #evolve | #ShareBirdHuntingwww.GoHuntBirds.com
