To Live is Christ: A Healthy Church

Paul has invested much of his life, time, energy and prayers to preach the gospel of Christ at Philippi. He had seen God bring faith and transformation to people’s lives. He watched as God formed a new community with His people and a church established. Now, as he sits in prison, he is no longer with them in person. But his heart is still with them. He wants make sure they continue in the faith and life that God begun in them. Spiritually healthy people comprise a spiritually healthy church. There, Paul urges the church (and each individual in it) to live worthy of the gospel of Christ. He wants their life to reflect the immense treasure of God’s gift of salvation in Christ. What does this look like? Paul gives practical indicators of their spiritual health. A healthy church stands confidently in the gospel, experiences oneness and unity in Christ, works together to spread the good news of Jesus with others, and willingly faces opposition and persecution for the sake of Christ with gladness and peace. God’s people are joyfully united, faithfully committed and actively involved in a gospel healthy church. Are you?
