“What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.” — Philippians 1:18Paul rejoiced because Christ was being proclaimed, and because he trusted that through the prayers of the church and the help of the Spirit, his situation would turn out for his deliverance. This reminds us of the importance of a praying church.Yet Paul desired deliverance not simply for comfort, but so that Christ would be honoured in him. For him, “to live is Christ” meant that every additional day was another opportunity for fruitful labour in service to Christ.The same is true for every believer.
