Today I’m headed home

Today I’m headed home Far too often got something in my eye, had to blink and I made the complete wrong turn I knew what was making it so hard to see, tried to rub them clean but all they did was burn Now I’m sure where I want to be, I don’t need to go to London, Paris, Barcelona or Rome Trips are sweet, but I’m dead on my feet, been away too long and today I’m headed home I’ve been out in the sticks, I’ve been down on my luck, I have suffered a wretched disease Spent days sweating in the heat struggling to breathe, nights where I thought I would freeze Been knocked down more than once, got up, smiled, straightened my hair with a comb Away with those tangled emotions, enough commotions, yeah today I’m headed home Home is where the heart is, yeah that’s something that I’ve heard said so many times in my life before My home is where two hearts will beat as one, love grows there and I couldn’t ask for anything more Spent too many days in the basement, taking steps to the top floor, it’s like the magic in a loving poem And the author loves me so, he writes me into happy endings, oh yeah babe today I’m headed home Tim Windisch 01/26/2023
