from General Podcast · host Channel Africa

Today marks Global Handwashing Day. Annually observed on the 15th of October, the day is dedicated to increasing awareness about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent illnesses. Many diseases, including diarrhoea, are transmitted by a failure to practise basic hygiene. Research shows that washing hands with soap and water can reduce diarrhoea deaths by more than 40 per cent.
