A group gathered outside of the Travis County district attorney's office demanding prosecution for three Austin police officers who shot and killed 17-year-old Anthoniel Williams ii last month as 911 audio shows Williams called to report someone with a gun at a Southeast Austin park. When officers arrived, they found Williams, who drew something from his waistband and pointed it at them. The officers returned fire and Williams was killed, but it later was determined he was only holding a water bottle. A Pflugerville barbecue joint is blaming the high cost of beef for having to close its doors, as Brotherton's Black Iron Barbecue will be closing at the end of the month after co-owner Nathan Lewis tells KXAN he thinks the price of beef has become "outrageous," and he says that high cost has made stay open unsustainable. Texas is one of 17 states facing legal action over poor conditions in immigration detention centers as 55-year-old Elton Purvis is seeking $10 million in damages for medical neglect and mistreatment he claims to have experienced in the 7 months detained at the South Texas detention complex in Pearsall. Purvis has type 1 diabetes, and his attorney is Caro Rivera Nelson with the ACLU of Texas.
