Tolle’s Immaculate Inning Leads Red Sox Win | Kansas City Royals News

Payton Tolle etched his name in Red Sox history with an eighth immaculate inning—striking out three batters on just nine pitches—becoming the first Red Sox pitcher since 2021 to do it and joining Pedro Martinez as the only ones to start a game with such a feat. Tolle followed up with six shutout innings, striking out seven, in a pitcher’s duel against Royals starter Noah Cameron. The game stayed tied until the seventh, when Kansas City tied it on an RBI single after Red Sox walks, but Boston answered with an RBI single from Roman Anthony and a two-run double from Trevor Story in the eighth. Aroldis Chapman sealed the win with his 34th save, giving the Red Sox a series victory as the Royals prepare for a showdown with the Astros.
