Tom Boardman - Running Coach

from Conversations About Running · host Kenya Experience

In this episode of Conversations About Running we stay 'in house' with a trio of our own Running Trips team members. Usual hosts Callum and Gavin are joined by, Tom Boardman, an experienced and highly skilled running coach who works with runners of all levels. Tom brings a wealth of experience to the team with more than 2 decades in the sport where he has excelled as both an athlete and coach. As a junior, Tom represented Great Britain at the World Cross Country Championships before attending Butler University in the USA on an athletics scholarship and he continues to train and race at a high level to this day. In his professional career, Tom has been coaching athletes from middle distance to the marathon and everything in between since 2006. He is a qualified TASS Athlete Lifestyle Support practitioner and manages the England Athletics Youth Talent Program based out of Loughborough University. Managing and mentoring elite young athletes has given Tom a range of transferable skills that he has successfully brought into his private coaching. In this podcast episode we get to know Tom a little better with stories from his racing/training background and later dive into the broad and varied topic of 'coaching'. We chat about our own experiences of both coaching other athletes and being coached as runners ourselves and how this has shaped our running journeys. Enjoy 🏃
