Tombstone 19 (Alex Magaña, Director, Smiling Woman & Aria Jackson, Director, Phone Home)

from The Graveyard Show Podcast · host The Caretaker

Welcome...to the graveyard. I am thrilled to welcome two independent filmmakers from the world of horror shorts to the program. Alex Magaña is the writer/director of such horror shorts as Smiling Woman, Lost In the Woods, and Outbreak (among others). We will discuss how he began writing and directing horror shorts, making his films while under Covid quarantine, and how he tries to "hook people" when they watch his movies online. Aria Jackson is the writer/director of the horror short Phone Home, which recently won Best Supernatural Film and Best Original Story at the 2020 Hollywood Horrorfest. We'll discuss how she created the story by working backwards from the film's ending, how she approaches filmmaking, and how she stuck to her original vision for the film's ending, even when some people told her it wouldn't work. The Graveyard Show Podcast can be found on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Pod Bean, and wherever podcasts are found. The show was also just recently added to Amazon Prime Music. You can also visit the YouTube channel- The Graveyard Show Podcast. And as you exit the graveyard I would like to remind you to please...lock the gate behind you...we wouldn't want anyone to get out. Until next time...
